I felt the care put into every single dish. The monthly curry for January 2026 was shrimp curry. You can get a large serving of rice. Not just the curry—the salad and lotus root quiche were delicious too. The carrot râpée had dried persimmon in it. Today's parfait was an unusual combination of amazake mint ice cream, shiratama, matcha mousse, black beans, dried persimmon, and more, and it was delicious. The parfait contents seem to change with the seasons too. The shikuwasa juice is 100% juice, and you can add syrup afterward to your liking. It's really delicious—if it were in my neighborhood, I'd want to go buy it often in summer. It goes well with the curry. Shikuwasa juice—recommended. There are 5 tables set out in a large tatami room, so my 1-year-old was able to walk around freely. In the takeout corner there was homemade yuzu tea, bread, chestnut manju, umeboshi, jam, and pie. I think the black beans, dried persimmon, and chestnuts in the parfait are also used in the chestnut manju, black bean bread, and dried persimmon jam.
View on GoogleOn my way to Onji Shrine to get the limited goshuin for the Day of the Rabbit (shortly after passing through the big torii gate), a small signboard caught my eye, and when I headed in the direction of the arrow, I found a lovely old folk house café. In a cozy room like the grandma's house I visited as a child, so nostalgic it makes you want to say "I'm home," I had the monthly lunch curry. The curry came with several kinds of side dishes, all handmade by the owner, and even the dried persimmons used in the side dishes were homemade, and it was very delicious. Onji Shrine is a shrine of the rabbit and the dragon, so it's truly the passing year and the coming year—when you visit in the Year of the Dragon, why not take a break at this café? However, I recommend checking their open days on social media and such. There is no parking. Visiting on the Day of the Rabbit, I was blessed with a lovely connection. Next time I'd like to try the sweets too.
View on Google👰 My wife heard from a friend 🧑🤝🧑 that you can eat curry 🍛 at an old folk house in Onji 🍴😋, so we went. The old folk house is on the approach to Onji Shrine, fairly far up the mountainside, and inside it has tatami flooring with a very calm atmosphere. Right inside the entrance they were selling shishito peppers, umeboshi, and eggplants grown there, and my wife 👰 was agonizing 😞🌀 over which to buy. For curry 🍛 I ordered the "Coconut Curry 🍛". The order came shortly, and the staff explained that in summer they use spices that draw heat out of the body and in winter spices that warm the body. The coconut curry 🍛 was a little spicy and suuuper ⤴️⤴️ delicious 😋🍴💕. I definitely want to come 😃 back to eat the curry 🍛 here again! Thanks for the meal!
View on Google2/12, I went in right after they opened. I'd had my eye on it since the end of last year, and this was my first time. Ordered the kofta (vegetable) curry, lemon curd mousse cake, and homemade shikuwasa juice. The kofta curry had an exquisite balance of spices and vegetable umami, and was very delicious. The lemon curd mousse cake was moderately sweet, a dessert adults can enjoy. Men like me might get hooked. The shikuwasa juice is strongly sour, but the sweetness covers it well, and it was easy to drink. Every dish conveyed the owner's sincerity. The owner is kind and graceful, and treated even a first-timer like me in a friendly way, so I had a pleasant time. A local shop I want to go to again and again—I'll keep supporting it.
