24.5.25 A lecture titled "The Dawn of Excavation in Tondabayashi" was held in the 2nd-floor auditorium of the Otani University museum. This was my first visit. The nearby gate was also open and there were signs, so I got there without getting lost. The spring special exhibition "Dai Tondabayashi Ten" is a joint project of the Osaka Ohtani University Museum and Tondabayashi City, displaying excavated artifacts that symbolize each era, chosen from the vast materials accumulated through excavations over the years. Until the 29th Yamanakada Kofun No. 1, Nakano Site, Shindo-ji Temple Ruins, Kishi Site, Ukigasawa Kofun Tondabayashi is a rare city that has no history museum—what a shame!

They hold special exhibitions in spring and autumn. The exhibition is only on the 1st floor and isn't very big, but they often have well-planned exhibitions, so it's enjoyable. As for access, there was a notice saying to follow instructions at the main gate regarding parking, so coming by car might be possible if there's space. There are also several coin parking lots nearby. About a 7-minute walk from Takidanifudo Station.

Osaka Ohtani University is the former Otani Women's University, founded in Showa 41, which became coeducational. Its founding spirit is "Hōon Kansha" (repaying kindness with gratitude), a teaching of Mahayana Buddhism brought from abroad, rather than Japan's native Shinto. A university loved by the local community. Visiting the university's museum is a must for students.

A wonderful exhibition! There's no permanent exhibition, and it seems to be open to the public only in spring and autumn.
