Small local history museum. Not a lot to see, but it’s free and well persevered

A museum where the building itself has historical significance. Admission is free. Just preserving it must cost money — nice going, Takatsuki City. By the way, isn't the bridal palanquin way too small?

It's located almost in the center of Takatsuki Castle Park (formerly Castle Ruins Park). The former Sasai family residence, a merchant house that stood in Kon'yamachi, was relocated here and opened as a museum. The building itself was designated Takatsuki City Cultural Property (Structure) No. 1 and has high historical value. Inside, as a folk museum, it displays old furniture, tools, farming implements, and so on. There are also hina dolls donated to the city. Various rare items are lined up, but as a museum its concept isn't very clear, and I can't shake the impression that things are just lined up. Since it's such a valuable place, I'd like to see a bit more thought put into the displays.

It's surprising that a wooden building like this still remained in front of Takatsuki Station around 1970. It's the former Sasai family residence, which stood in Kon'yamachi in the castle town, relocated and restored. Takatsuki City Cultural Property, Former Sasai Family Residence, mid-Edo period A valuable townhouse (machiya) that conveys the atmosphere of the castle town of Takatsuki.
