Enjoyed sliced carp sashimi and soft shell turtle dishes including blood shot, liver ovary etc. Not so many restaurants can serve these dishes because raw carp and soft shell turtles are rare and raw carp can be eaten by farming. I’m so happy to have opportunity to eat them. The restaurant is little far from TAKATSUKI station and it takes around 20 min by bus. Expensive but staff are so polite and kind, and riverside scenery is so beautiful and calm. Highly recommend.

It was said to be by-reservation-only, but taking advantage of going to Nagaokakyo, we crossed the mountains and headed there on the spur of the moment. Calling along the way, since it was a weekday, we were able to eat without a reservation. Being a restaurant specializing in river fish dishes, we ordered both the sweetfish set meal and the carp set meal, and shared them. As expected, both the sweetfish and the carp had a bit of a distinct gamey flavor, but I'm glad I got to try rare dishes. By the way, the prices are a bit on the high side. The interior of the private room has the ambiance of an old minshuku (guesthouse). There was an old-fashioned air conditioning machine that required inserting money. Looking at the river, there were kingfishers and ducks, and the call of the kajika frogs cleansed my soul. I thought it would be nice to spend a relaxing time here, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

I came here once more than 30 years ago. Back then, the taste of the carp sashimi tasted like carp feed, which I extremely disliked. However, visiting this time and eating the same Akutagawa course, I was moved. It was delicious. When I asked the owner, it was indeed true for the past. According to his son, ever since the current owner took over, the management of hygiene is completely different from the old days, and now it is strictly managed, which has the biggest influence on the taste of the carp. With my past memories, I had stayed away until now, but trying it out on this visit made me realize for the first time that carp is delicious. If there are people like me who visited a long time ago, please come and try it once more. You can fully savor the true taste of carp. I realized for the first time that the carp we always see in the Akutagawa and Yodogawa rivers are actually this delicious. Thank you very much.

A river fish course centered around carp where you can eat carp 'arai' (chilled sashimi) and sashimi with two kinds of sauces: vinegared miso and kochujang vinegar; it was crunchy and delicious! Salt-grilled sweetfish, this was small and the bones were soft and delicious, Simmered carp, simmered in a rich broth (arataki), this was also sweet, rich, and right in the middle contained both soft roe and hard roe! 👊😆🎵 And finally, miso soup and rice. I didn't know such a place existed in Osaka! For those with children, apparently you can play in the river down below 😊

I went with my mother for the first time in over 30 years. The carp arai, salt-grilled sweetfish, miso soup and rice—the taste and atmosphere from those days when my grandfather used to bring me remained exactly the same, which made me truly happy. The simmered carp, which I didn't remember, was also very delicious. Since it's an important memory with my late grandfather, I hope it continues for a long time to come.
