Located in a prime spot just a 2-minute walk from Hankyu Takatsuki-shi Station, Vietnamese restaurant "39 việt quán" catches the eye with its vivid yellow exterior. It's on the 2nd floor above the Korean restaurant "チャンチ", and as you climb the stairs, Vietnamese music and decor get you in a travel mood. The interior is wrapped in bright, vibrant colors, with both table and sofa seating, accommodating small to large groups. So that everyone from first-timers to Vietnamese food enthusiasts can enjoy it, the menu ranges widely from staples like fresh spring rolls and pho to unusual ingredients such as goat, duck, snakehead fish, crocodile, and frog. On this visit, the duck and bamboo shoot…

Went with a Vietnamese friend and while the food was good, Banh's look wasn't appetizing, or so she said. But the taste was so good and totally will go there again. Pics desc. : クラゲサラダ (Jellyfish Salad) and Banh Egg

On Tabelog the menu looked huge, with frog, duck, and goat too, so I thought it must be authentic and first came for lunch. The staff are Vietnamese, and the customers were about half Japanese, half Vietnamese. It's pretty popular. In reality, a lot of menu items had "sold out" stickers on them. I was going to get the banh mi lunch set, but when I asked what the fillings were, it seemed it wasn't a banh mi at all but a baguette and stew (so you assemble it in your mouth?). I'd like the menu to be written accurately. I pulled myself together and got the bun bo Hue set. Besides the bun bo, it came with fresh spring rolls, fried spring rolls, salad, rice with meat, and che. They said "please add the salad and eat," so it seems to be a substitute for herbs like fish mint, mint, and banana blossom that people add over there, but if you can't provide the herbs and are just adding plain cabbage or carrots, I think you might as well skip it. There was just a tiny bit of cilantro in the noodles. Everything was tasty, but the soup had no spiciness and no lemongrass aroma, it was pho broth. But how much cilantro and herbs go in, and whether it's just an imitation, inevitably changes how you rate Vietnamese food. Cilantro in particular is cheap this season, so I'd like them to try a little harder. Also, when I went to the restroom there was no toilet paper, so I asked the staff to refill it, but after using it I looked up at the shelf above and the toilet paper from the bag, probably put out in a hurry, was avalanching out and about to fall. It wasn't even noon yet and the trash bin was already full too. Disappointing.

The restaurant is on the 2nd floor on Johoku-dori in Takatsuki City. I forgot to ask when it opened. Drawn by the name of the old capital Hue, I had the "Bun Bo Hue Set (1100円)". Bun bo Hue is a noodle soup, and it comes with rice, 2 kinds of spring rolls, and dessert. You add the vegetables to the noodle soup, squeeze in lemon, then stir it up and eat. The fried spring rolls were delicious, so next time I'm thinking of ordering them à la carte. The restaurant is decorated with photos of Vietnamese tourist spots and conical hats called non, and my desire to visit Vietnam kept welling up. There's no elevator.
