This place is something else. It's a shop run single-handedly by an 86-year-old granny. Since she moved here, the station has been rebuilt, the row of cherry trees has disappeared, and the whole town has changed, but only Yane has stayed the same. So it seems to have become a sacred spot for class reunions. She said, "When more than 10 people come, I can't keep up on my own, but it's something to be grateful for." I just happened to wander in while here from Tokyo for an academic conference, but I'm glad I came.
View on GoogleRun single-handedly by a granny over 80. It seems it's now become the oldest eatery in Kandaimae. The okonomiyaki and yakisoba cooked on the well-worn iron griddle are outstanding value. To the point that you worry whether these prices are really OK.
View on GoogleAn old-fashioned okonomiyaki shop. From outside it looks like it might not be open, but when you go up to the 2nd floor, there's a friendly granny on her own. She's a great talker, and both the food and the conversation were fun. I went with my dad, just the two of us, and it was great to really soak up the Osaka vibe after coming to Osaka. I want to go again.

View on GoogleIt's cheap. You get really full. A large modan-yaki was 600 yen. Maybe because it's near the university, the value is outstanding. The lady was running it on her own. It's a Showa-era shop. I really like it. Please stay healthy forever and keep the shop going.
