I enjoyed visiting the Japan Folk Crafts Museum and found it especially interesting to see how traditional craftwork is presented across different periods. The building itself adds a lot of character, with an old wooden feel that makes the visit memorable. Just take your time moving around inside, since the floors and stairs have that aged, delicate feel. An hour was enough for me to get a good look around.

Came to see the pottery, stayed for the special Shikō Munakatta exhibition. There wasn't much pottery on display in the permanent galleries, but the gift store does offer a large selection for sale, including pieces from the Hamada-gama Kiln. Tip: There was a very nice commemorative stamp station set up right outside the doors leading into the interior courtyard.

The Japan Folk Craft Museum, Osaka is a fairly small but unique museum for those who are interested in Japanese traditional craft. Alongside a seasonal exhibit, the permanent exhibit showcases earthenware, pots and vessels by local artists. There is a simple yet lovely courtyard and a museum shop near the entrance. This museum is part of EXPO'70 Commemorative Park that also has the Peace Rose Garden, Traditional Japanese Garden, National Museum of Ethnology and Expo City. The museum is about a 10/15 minute walk from the monorail station or bus from the Hankyu/JR Ibaraki Station.
