Loved the tour experience! Yes it is hard to get a ticket but so worth it. We did an English tour and the guide spoke really good english. Did a walk around the manufacturing parts, saw the casks and had a tasting at the end of the various components that makes Yamazaki. We explored the different notes during the tasting and also left with a souvenir. You have the opportunity to buy goods and other bottles in the gift shop and downstairs they have a lounge area where you can try the other types of alcohol made by Yamazaki. Highly recommended as a whisky lover!

The Yamazaki museum at the Suntory Yamazaki distillery is a must visit if you love whisky and are anywhere close to Kyoto! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, which definitely makes the experience even more enjoyable! There is also a whisky tasting room where each person can choose up to three different whisky’s to try! The prices range from as low as ¥300 and goes up to as much as ¥22,000 for either The Yamazaki 25 year, The Hakushu 25 year or the Hibiki 30 year! You can also visit the gift shop, and now you can buy one bottle per person of the 770ml The Yamazaki for ¥7,700! It is awesome!

Slightly off the beaten path but well worth the experience! It cost nothing to enter, and as long as you are 20 years old+, and didn't arrive via car, bike or motorcycle; You can order up to three tastings in the whiskey room. They range from 300 yen a tasting and up. Before or after that, you can explore the grounds and learn the history of the Suntory brand. There is apparently even a private tasting club/room that also serves food, but we did not experience that this trip.
