Visited to see the Emperor Richu Mausoleum Kofun. It's on the south side of "Daisen Park." The worship place is on the opposite side of the kofun, but I didn't have time so I couldn't go. It's slightly elevated, and you can view a small green hill beyond the large moat that surrounds it. Apparently it's the third largest kofun in Japan. It has a strong presence.

Kofun are synonymous with "view them from above." I went since it's supposed to be a viewpoint, but my impression was, "huh, I can see a forest beyond the moat." There's a lot of water around, so even in mid-March when it's still chilly, small flying bugs were swarming and I didn't feel like sticking around. This must be crazy in summer.

The people at the visitor center recommended this place, so I came here. It's definitely a spot where you can really get a feel for the kofun's atmosphere👍 I was surprised that there are houses lined up right next to it. The locals really live alongside the kofun group, don't they.

A spot where you can view the Emperor Richu Mausoleum (Misanzai Kofun) from the round rear mound side. Unlike viewing it from the worship place, you can see the whole mound beyond the moat, so you can get some real sense of its size. The observation spot also has a simple information board about the kofun. It's nice to gaze at the huge mound that looks like an island and let your thoughts drift to ancient times for a while.

From here you can see the Kofun of Emperor Richu. It's a small raised platform; on the fence below there's a panel with information.
