A diner with a tasteful exterior located right near Ario Otori. Since it's only open during weekday lunch hours, I couldn't visit easily, but I used a work break to go. In the center of the historically rich interior, there is a glass showcase containing side dishes. I had the 'Lunch Set' where I chose two items from here, which came with a small bowl of rice, miso soup, and pickles. The vegetable tempura and grilled mackerel were warmed in the microwave on top of the showcase, and the rice, miso soup, and pickles arrived from the kitchen, completing the set meal. Although it says small rice, the volume seems to have about as much as a regular portion. The side dishes had a somewhat nostalgic taste, making it a lunch just right for a workday break. Compared to past menu photos, it seems they are indeed suffering from the recent inflation. Even so, set meals, bowl dishes, and noodles are all kept under the 800 yen range. In an era where lunch easily exceeds 1,000 yen, this is a grateful pricing. Next time I'd like to try bowl dishes or noodles.
View on GoogleTHE Showa era diner However, it's expensive! Not as delicious as they say. Katsudon → Disappointing. Side dishes → Disappointing. An image of regular old men drinking beer from noon and staying long. This kind of shop has an image of being reasonable and having many items, but that's none. No repeat. (Personal opinion)
View on GoogleHad the udon set 850 yen (tax included). You can choose one side dish from several pre-made side dishes inside the glass showcase, and it comes with udon, rice, and pickles. I chose oden. It was normally delicious. Also, the udon broth was delicious. The selectable side dishes were few in variety. Want a bit more volume
View on GoogleThe katsudon and miso soup were delicious. The shop had a nostalgic atmosphere. Located if you walk from Otori Station through the shopping district toward Ario Otori. At first glance it's hard to enter, but once you go inside it's like time-tripping to childhood. Next time I want to eat curry udon.
View on GoogleA set-meal restaurant with a historic appearance. The proprietress running this shop is very friendly and easy to talk to. Here I had the katsudon and kitsune udon. Both had very gentle flavors and felt like returning to my parents' home, dishes that show the warmth of the owner! Very delicious 😆 It was a shop where you can feel the goodness of a long-established store!
