2026.08 I went in because I wanted to have the karamen I'd eaten in Miyazaki in Osaka too. You buy a meal ticket from the machine before entering. The ticket machine only accepts cash. For bills, only thousand-yen notes. The konnyaku noodles apparently contain buckwheat flour, so people with allergies should be careful. I think it's very good: rice at no extra charge (it can also be stone-bowl rice), a choice of noodles and spice levels, and items to change the flavor. That's about it.

A short walk from Sakaihigashi Station, just before the shopping street, is a spicy-ramen specialist aptly named Karamenya 🔥 When I casually stopped by at lunchtime, I saw a notice offering complimentary rice with cheese and went right in ✨ I chose the tomato karamen 1050円, said to be the number-one favorite among women 🍅 You can choose the heat, so I picked the second level, mildly spicy! Apparently it goes all the way to a daredevil level 10 🍜 The chili's kick and umami warm your body right up! How lovely that the egg gently softens it ✨ Then the tomato's pleasant acidity makes a wonderful trio! Next, pour the soup over the stone-grilled cheese rice and mix, mix 🍚 That was delicious too, making it an incredibly satisfying lunch (≧▽≦)

First visit. I ordered karamen (konnyaku noodles) and stone-grilled cheese rice. The soup had no richness or umami, just heat. The konnyaku noodles didn't hold the soup and were hard to bite through—perhaps calories are their only advantage… The stone-grilled cheese rice was delicious. But the flavor doesn't justify the price, so I probably won't return… 🙏

I love Miyazaki karamen and had been curious about this place for a long time. You buy a meal ticket before going inside. The interior was clean, and at a glance it seemed to have only counter seats. The lovely smile and cheerful greeting from the very upbeat foreign staff member felt wonderful 👏 As for the main order, I got extra-spicy tomato karamen with the stone-grilled cheese set. As someone who orders level 20 at a certain karamen shop, I didn't feel any heat even in the extra-spicy version. (Maybe because I chose tomato karamen?) There was garlic, vinegar, and more available to change the flavor. It was delicious, but perhaps didn't quite pack a punch. My favorite Miyazaki karamen shop isn't nearby, so I might come again? The stone-grilled cheese rice filled me up 👍 As shown in the video, it's piping hot, so be careful of burns ⚠️.

My second visit to the karamen shop that opened in July 2023, just before the Sakai Ginza shopping arcade. The spicy ramen I ate on a business trip to Miyazaki was delicious, so once again I was lured by the sign saying it originated in Miyazaki. Last time I had “negi karamen,” so today I ordered “tomato karamen.” I chose Chinese-style noodles (konnyaku noodles are also available), and the tomato's acidity matched the spicy soup nicely. The relatively thin, curly noodles held the soup well and tasted great. I also ordered the stone-grilled rice set; when the piping-hot stone bowl arrives, pour over 3~4 spoonfuls of soup, stir, and wait a little before eating.
