When I asked an acquaintance in the food business in Sakai about a good soba restaurant in Sakai, Sekkasen was the name that came up. Other mentions included Hachiman Soba, Kumo, and Aigo. When I visited about 10 minutes after opening, an elderly customer was already inside, talking without a mask to the middle-aged owner. Even after I entered, they continued talking for a few minutes, and I was made to wait to be seated.. Composing myself, I sat down and ordered the 900 yen finely ground soba as zaru. I also ordered the secret menu sobagaki zenzai (the price seems to be 900 yen) After that, about two groups came in and it immediately filled up. It seems they don't accept reservations for lunch, and the owner carefully makes soba one by one in strict order. Since he runs it alone, food comes out rather slowly when full. The soba served was dark juwari soba. Perhaps because it uses no wheat flour, it's short soba that breaks easily. "Put the condiments on top, don't put them in the sauce~" he added as I started eating. The taste is... Delicious!! Quite high up among the ones I've eaten. It was my first time eating soba mochi ~sobagaki~, but it's quite delicious. The rustic taste is good. Also, another customer ordered beer, but "Beer doesn't go with soba. Still want to order?" "Though the beer we stock is chosen to be light-tasting so it's okay" "Some places cater beer to all customers, but our place is different" And the lecture topic that is talked about in other reviews appeared. Lol Overall impression: the taste is great! But I think it's better not to expect hospitality, etc.. It's not an atmosphere for chatting, so those who want to eat while chatting shouldn't go. Personally, I feel like I won't be a repeat customer. On the day I went, it seemed the daytime soba ended at a total of 9 servings, so I recommend arriving early. Cash only.
View on GoogleThe crawling entrance door is quite low, so you need to be careful not to hit your head. The atmosphere inside the shop is good, but there is no place to put luggage or coats. I put it on the next chair, but I think it would be tough if it were fully booked.. The soba I expected was average. I was also bothered that it was a bit short. It is written at the entrance that reservations are required at night, so please be careful if you visit at night.
View on GoogleYou can taste the soba in its best condition at any given time. First, the loop of as-is → coarse salt → condiments. I am surprised every time at how much difference there is between fine and coarse grind.
View on GoogleIt was a shop where excitement begins from the entrance. I had the thick noodles. Smooth and firm in the mouth, very delicious!! I finished the broth cleanly. Thanks to the words of the "lecture ojisan" that other people mentioned, "We also have zenzai", I was able to encounter the delicious "Sobagaki Zenzai". Both were very delicious. Thank you very much 🙏
View on GoogleCraftsman's commitment soba restaurant I had the coarsely ground fine soba. The atmosphere of the shop and the tableware also had a good vibe and felt nice.
