Random monkey zoo is random but a pleasant surprise
View on GoogleOhama Park was originally a place called Sakai Aquarium, and the monkeys kept back then seem to still be there. There are lots of monkeys, so it feels like you're at a zoo.
View on GoogleIt was my first time going, but the park is big and parking is cheap While I was watching the monkeys with my dog, the man who looks after them came out, and the monkeys clung to his legs — they seemed used to him. The monkeys didn't care at all when the kids made noise, and to keep out the cold they were all huddled together keeping warm.
View on GoogleIn the old days Kishiwada Castle had a similar facility too, but with the changing times, this has become a rare park where you can see monkeys outside a zoo, so I humbly submit~. Yes. The breeding here is permitted by Osaka Prefecture, so as long as the permit keeps being renewed you can see them, and watching the parent and baby monkeys cuddling affectionately and the young monkeys playing, you think they're just like us humans~ and it's sooo soothing, I tell ya~. Mister~. Ye~s.
View on GoogleI passed by here when I went to this park for a morning walk during the cold year-end. At first I wondered what it was, and it turned out to be a monkey mountain. It was literally just sitting there alone in the park, which surprised me. However, even though it was the cold season, there was an incredible animal smell — I don't know if it's unsanitary or if they just happened not to have cleaned because of the year-end, but... honestly it stank too much for me to go near. The monkeys, maybe because they're kept in conditions close to being left out in the open, didn't look very lively. It's probably because it's winter, but even so, honestly I felt sorry for them being left alone in a park like this by the sea with nothing around, and the smell was so strong that I couldn't hide my surprise and confusion about a lot of things.
