I used "Monja Izakaya Matsubokkuri". Inside the restaurant was bustling with locals, giving the impression of a shop loved by the community. It had a cozy, comfortable atmosphere, making it easy to drop in casually even for the first time. The food was also delicious, and I was able to enjoy my meal slowly dish by dish. The charm is the atmosphere that is lively yet calm, making it perfect for dining with friends or family. I felt that a shop with many local customers can't be wrong, and it was a place I'd definitely want to repeat if I come near here again. It's a highly satisfying restaurant where you can enjoy delicious monja and a warm atmosphere. This time I give it a 4-star rating.
View on GoogleI suddenly wanted to eat monjayaki, so I went to Matsubokkuri right in front of Fukai Station, which has superb access. I ate Mentaiko Mochi Pork Cheese. It's super fluffy, and eating it with the scorched crispy part (oge) is super delicious ^_^ I added horumon-yaki and tonpei-yaki and they were delicious. Since the access is superb, I could go home without missing the train, so I felt relieved ^_^
View on GoogleTo be honest, I'd give it 1 star. This place used to be an okonomiyaki restaurant, but suddenly the shop became smaller, and it feels more like a drinking bar that happens to have monja and okonomiyaki rather than a monja and okonomiyaki restaurant. Well, maybe it's hard for first-timers to enter. Almost all are regulars or familiar faces, and I even saw scenes where they pour drinks for each other. If it were called Izakaya Matsubokkuri, I would understand, but if it's listed as a monja/okonomiyaki restaurant, customers who don't drink will be troubled and probably find it hard to enter. First, when you sit down, you are asked for your drink order as part of the system. Even if you don't drink, otoshi is served, and of course, you are charged properly for it. Okonomiyaki is over 1,000 yen probably because of many toppings, so it's not a restaurant to go eat okonomiyaki casually. I understand why monja doesn't catch on in Kansai, it feels more like a snack or a drinking accompaniment. I also ordered yakisoba, but the noodles were too thick, making it feel like yaki-udon. The reason I gave it 2 stars is because on the way out, they saw us off all the way outside saying "thank you as always ♪", which was a point I appreciated. I could have given it even more. This makes you go home feeling good. With a narrow entrance that is hard to get into, won't first-timers feel even more reluctant to enter!? The taste itself is good, so if it becomes easier to enter and one doesn't have to drink alcohol, I'd like to go. It sounds nice to call it cozy, but the employees had a lot of private chats, which was a bit concerning.
View on GoogleMatsubokkuri was where I ate monjayaki for the first time. Ever since then, I got hooked on monjayaki and tried several shops, but I still haven't found a shop that beats Matsubokkuri. It's super delicious, reasonably priced, and the proprietress is very kind!
View on GoogleThe monja was delicious~. The part-time staff were also nice and I enjoyed it very much. The a la carte dishes were also very numerous and delicious. Though cost performance might be poor... well, it's neither good nor bad, so I think it's fine. Since there are few monja shops in Sakai, I'll probably end up going again lol
