Saw this posted on IG so went to try it when i happened to be in Sakai city. It was nice enough, a little expensive. Famous for the castella, however I found it a little too sweet for my taste. The desserts were interesting and well presented , however I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to come here. If you sit by the window, there’s a nice little Japan rock garden you can look out onto.

The kasutera cake is the most famous product here. A full size of the cake cost more than ¥10000. They also have¥ 5000, ¥3000 and ¥1500 packages. The pronunciation of the store name is the same as the pronunciation of "high class". The price of the products matches well with name. Packaging and service is very good. Mailing service is provided if you pay¥ 750. There is a tea room /restaurant at the back of the store. It seems not bad. I would like to try it next time.

A wonderful restaurant and cafe with a spacious and relaxing atmosphere. I figured they would whisk us thin tea if we asked, of course. But they were going to make it for us at the standing-tea-ceremony table inside the shop?! There is one specialized staff member wearing a kimono. They even have a dedicated preparation room (mizuya), and managing it separately from the kitchen and regular drinks is amazing. As expected of a shop associated with Sen no Rikyu. You can also choose the accompanying Japanese sweets. Before the kamameshi arrived, delicious tea and tea-accompaniment castella were served, which felt luxurious.

A renowned restaurant where you can discover a new deliciousness of additive-free castella while viewing a Japanese garden A very calm Japanese-style café within walking distance from Sakaihigashi Station. From inside the shop, you can look out at a beautiful, well-maintained Japanese garden, making you forget the hustle and bustle of the city. Their famous castella called "Ougon no Tetsugaku" is an additive-free masterpiece made from only 5 ingredients: eggs, sugar, wheat flour, starch syrup, and honey. This time I had the "Freshly Made Masu-iri Castella", and I was surprised by the style of pairing it with rock salt, butter, and fresh cream. The just-right saltiness of the rock salt brings out the sweetness of the castella, making it a very well-calculated taste. Also, the "Rose Soda" using naturally cultivated roses is highly aromatic, immersing you in a luxurious mood. The limited-edition "Sakura Dorayaki" purchased as a souvenir also had a moist texture and I felt it was of very high quality. Dedicated parking for 12 cars is fully equipped right across the street, making visits by car very smooth. The service is polite, and this is a restaurant that I can confidently recommend for treating yourself or choosing a gift.
