An old-school set meal restaurant located about a 3-minute walk from JR Sakai-shi Station. Smoking allowed inside. Stopped by during weekday lunchtime and ordered the ginger pork set meal for 800 yen. When I asked the shop's owner (mom), she said it has been in business for 60 years and is the oldest shop in this neighborhood. She mentioned she is 90 years old, but she is energetic enough to walk steadily and fiddle with her smartphone. The set meal is quite standard. Looking at the menu, there is a rich variety from rice bowls and sashimi to curry and everything else, so you won't get bored. Listening to the mom, she said she rents out the building to the okonomiyaki shop next door, so maybe she is the owner of this building. With her son in the kitchen since her husband passed away, this is a set meal restaurant I hope will continue for a long time.

I drop by from time to time for the grilled fish set meal for lunch. The rice is delicious! The mom is neither pushy nor aloof, just the right amount of friendly interaction, which is nice. The vibe is cozy! I like it. The prices are about right. I love katsudon, so if it looks good, I'm thinking of trying it next time. Grilled fish set meal 680 yen. Sashimi set meal 780 yen. Anyone complaining about bad value for money here probably can't eat out anywhere.

In this day and age, a diner that doesn't even separate smoking areas. Never going back. As others have said, poor value for money.
