Centuries-old sweets shop known for its walnut mochi confection served with shaved ice.

Tried both the shaved ice version (kōri kurumi mochi) and the regular kurumi mochi. The sweet bean paste was light yet full of the natural flavor of edamame, which made it very enjoyable. The shiratama dumplings were the perfect size with a wonderfully soft and pleasant texture. When the shaved ice began to melt and mix with the paste, the balance of flavors became even better. It created a refreshing and satisfying dessert. The shop itself has a charming old-established atmosphere that makes you feel relaxed the moment you walk in. A truly delightful traditional sweet experience in Sakai. Easily five stars.
View on GoogleI arrived just before 5 p.m. and was politely told that dine-in was not available and could only get takeaway, so I placed a takeaway order. I found a nice bench in the park to quietly enjoy my dessert. When I opened the plastic bag, I noticed the staff had thoughtfully included an ice pack to keep it chilled. I took my first bite with high hopes. The texture was absolutely perfect, but honestly, it was just too sweet for me. Great service and thoughtful packaging, but it would be perfect with a little less sugar and hope they can adjust the sweetness level.
View on GoogleA hidden gem - for tourists ! Really subtle, earthy flavors from the green bean (?) paste that was paired with the extremely satisfyingly chewy mochi and refreshing shaved ice. It wasn’t too sweet - highest compliment an Asian can give to a dessert iykyk. Highly recommend, must try local delight.
View on GoogleAn Absolutely necessary experience if you are spending any time in osaka and you care to experience beautiful dessert with history. Delicious and standard setting delicacy, royal taste 700 years ago and today.
View on GoogleKurumimochi is their speciality. It's very tasty rice cake with Zunda(green beans). If you buy a large size, it comes with brown pottery which looks masterpiece.:))
