I came for the first time because I wanted delicious udon. Ordered the toriten kijoyu udon. It had firm chewiness that made me feel like I'd really eaten udon—great! It's very different from the chewy udon I ate when I was posted in Takamatsu (when I ate at the second-chewiest udon shop in Takamatsu, I thought it was rubber), but for an Osakan it's a good level of chewiness. That said, since it's kijoyu and not bukkake udon, I kind of wish they'd served grated ginger like in Kagawa instead of grated daikon. The toriten is light, so it pairs well with the rich kijoyu here! It was delicious!

First visit! Went around 1 p.m. on a weekday! I got in without queuing, but since they can run out of noodles and it's a popular shop, it's probably best to be ready to queue and go early! It looked like there were counter seats and tables? in the back, and the interior felt spacious and roomy, not cramped! This time I had ⚫︎Toriten bukkake 1100 yen ⚫︎Lunchtime deal 100 yen (you could choose inari, rice, or kayaku gohan, so I chose kayaku gohan) ! The toriten was breast meat with light seasoning and a meaty texture, but it was big and hefty, juicy, piping hot and crispy—delicious! The cold bukkake had slurpable, chewy udon—sooo good noodles! (zero vocabulary) The noodles were neatly arranged too, great visuals! The menu also has plenty of options like curry udon and warm udon, so it's a place I want to visit again! Apparently they sometimes open in the evening too, which is great! Truly a popular shop! A recommended town for anyone who loves Sakaihigashi food!
