Today's ramen is special. It's the 100th bowl of ramen we've encountered together! My wife made an album on LINE and has been keeping a proper record of it. We've been talking for a while about where we should go for the 100th bowl, but because of my wife's dentist appointment, it got late and we couldn't go far. Although we had 'Aimon' on our radar, we first headed to another ramen shop in Sakai that we were curious about. However, for some reason it was closed, so we hurried back and squeezed into Aimon just past 9:30 PM. Even though they were closing in 30 minutes, the place was full. Over half of the customers were students from the prefectural university. The interior is just wonderful. It felt like they were using an old Japanese traditional house just as it was. Paintings with unique colors are displayed on the walls and ceilings. Sitting at the counter, we took our time looking at the menu to decide. Wife ⇨ Chashu ramen, me ⇨ Special chashu ramen + small pork bowl. The shop is run by just the owner and a part-time boy, but with the part-time boy's break, a group of prefectural university students leaving after paying, and new customers coming in all at once, we had to wait quite a while for our ramen. Finally served, my wife's chashu ramen—I didn't count, but it was a luxurious bowl of ramen topped with a huge amount of chashu. Following that was my special chashu ramen, a extravagant bowl with kimchi, menma, and a seasoned boiled egg added to the chashu ramen. First, starting with the soup. Not too heavy, a mellow tonkotsu. The noodles are medium-thin straight noodles, and bean sprouts peek out from under the chashu. The noodles, cooked to just the right firmness, intertwine with the delicious soup and my chopsticks just wouldn't stop. The chashu is thinly sliced and has just the right amount of fat. Because they are thin, I could gobble up this amount in no time. Remembering that there was cake at home, my wife tearfully left some of her soup behind. The small pork bowl that came out before the ramen was a cute, rice-bowl-sized portion. Crumbled chashu, plenty of green onions, and pickled ginger are piled on top. The seasoning is delicious, and they even prepared extra sauce on the side in case it wasn't enough. At the end, I poured the ramen soup over it and enjoyed it. Lately, with mazemen, tsukemen, tantanmen, etc., the two of us hardly ever eat regular ramen anymore. We were healed by some delicious ramen after such a long time. This shop is a place where many prefectural university students go. With many people exchanging words with the owner, I thought perhaps the owner's friendly personality is what draws in repeat customers? Well, I'm sure there are repeat customers for the delicious ramen too, of course. I'm glad we could come before moving! Celebrate the 100th bowl!! Thank you for the delicious ramen ☺ Thanks for the meal 😋
View on GoogleDespite this area being a student district, there aren't many ramen shops, but among those few shops, this is my favorite. The collagen-rich soup is thick yet not greasy, making it easy to eat casually. The price isn't high either, which makes it a welcome place for students.
View on GoogleThe Kakure-don is a 5-star favorite menu item of mine, but my impression is that the ramen is just average. I don't think it's very nice for the manager to scold part-time staff in front of the customers.
View on GoogleIt's certainly cheap!!! When I ordered the special ramen, chashu, egg, kimchi, and menma came on a separate plate. I had no idea why it was on a separate plate, but there was no explanation from the owner... Wouldn't it be nice if they were a bit kinder to a first-time customer?
View on GoogleThe manager has a great personality, and the soup looks heavy but isn't greasy. It goes amazingly well with the egg and chashu, and you can easily devour even a large portion with great enjoyment.
