Toto-ya
"Totoya (鳥々家)", in a great location right by Tengachaya Station, reopened after renovation at the end of 2024! It's been reborn as an even tastier, even more comfortable space. Our pride, above all, is our superb yakitori slowly grilled over charcoal. Using binchotan charcoal, we grill it crispy and fragrant on the outside, plump and juicy on the inside. Besides classics like negima, momo, and kawa, we offer rare cuts like "hatsu" and "seseri" and melt-in-your-mouth rare cuts—a lineup that lets you fully enjoy the flavor of chicken! Beyond yakitori, we also recommend our tsumire nabe, packed with chicken flavor. In a rich broth, fluffy tsumire…

We chanced upon this little shop as our Airbnb was nearby. It a very pleasant find and we end up visiting it twice during our stay at Osaka. Food was very delicious, especially the grilled chicken, mushrooms and japanese yam. Will definitely drop by again when we are back in Osaka next time. They don’t have english menu but Google Translate easily solved that.
View on GoogleWent to eat here on a Tuesday night, exceeded expectations. As a foreign tourist in a local area the food here is good, and bang for your buck. Yummy assortments of yakitori skewers, salads, hotpot, and fried dishes. Seems locals like to dine here for long sessions with drinks. Would recommend for those living in walking distance
View on GoogleThis shop is really close to my home, and before I only thought of it as "oh, there's a yakitori place". That's because the sign is super simple, black letters on a white background, a design that seems intentionally Showa-style. I'm the type who likes flashy things, so I'd never gone in, but that day for some reason I felt like tasting the Showa era, so I dropped in. The location, the atmosphere, the taste—none of it is trendy, but the sense of comfort of eating "yakitori" here is off the charts. The staff aren't the "cute" type either, but they're like reliable, steady, good-natured Osaka uncles, so I could relax. The appetizer was "Akashiyaki", and serving "Akashiyaki" in Osaka, the home of takoyaki, strikes me as witty and cool. To finish I had "cha soba", which wiped away the taste of the yakitori sauce, and I went home feeling refreshed. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!
View on GoogleThere happened to be an event nearby, so I stopped by. The service from the master and the part-timers, and above all the atmosphere, is really great! On top of that, the yakitori and chicken dishes were amazing. The side dishes were tasty too. I feel like everything else is probably good as well. Drinking at the counter is nice, and renting a zashiki for a group would be great too. I definitely want to go again.
View on GoogleThe yakitori place we originally planned to go to was closed, so we hurriedly found this place, and it's really, really delicious ㅠㅠ They're super kind, and of course since I speak basic Japanese communication went fine, but it seemed like none of them knew Korean! Instead, all the basics can be handled in English!! Even if you don't know it, it's a really natural place where you can feel the Japanese atmosphere!!
