Right outside the west ticket gate of "十三" Station!【A standing udon and soba shop proud of its freshly fried tempura and dashi made in-house every day】 Kake udon, thin udon, soba, from 380 yen. Open every day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.! (Last entry 22:45) Our tempura uses an original blend of tempura flour. Each order is fried in front of you to a light, crispy finish. What's more, it's served in a special bowl that keeps the tempura from sinking into the broth. First as it is, then with bonito salt, and finally dipped in our special dashi: enjoy freshly fried tempura three ways. Our specialty is the "大判かき揚げ," made generously with onion, shrimp, kobashira scallops, and more. A popular standard is the large shrimp tempura…

This day was a weekday, but I had the day off and had an errand in the morning, so I landed in Juso! After finishing my errand, and after enjoying daytime drinking at a standing bar in Shonben Yokocho, I still had room in my stomach, so I dropped into the standing udon shop "味満," which had caught my eye as I walked past. "味満" is right in front of Juso Station's west exit and really stands out~ It seems to be a shop popular for its freshly fried tempura, so I bought a ticket for the famous large kakiage udon from the ticket machine and handed it to the staff inside. By the way, it seemed you could also choose thin udon or soba, but since it was my first time I played it safe with udon. ◉大判かき揚げうどん ¥640 After a short wait, the "大判かき揚げうどん" arrived, and I was shocked (@_@) The kakiage is ridiculously huge! The bowl itself isn't that big, but sitting on top normally it's so big you can't see the udon. There's a metal mesh over the bowl with the kakiage on top, a clever touch so the kakiage doesn't directly touch the broth. First I tasted the broth: it's an orthodox, delicious Kansai-style broth with kombu and bonito dashi, but the flavor was stronger than I expected, which seems just right after drinking. The udon is a slightly thin, soft Osaka-style noodle without much chew, but it's tasty in its own way (^O^) The kakiage is mainly onion with shiso leaf, green onion, red pickled ginger, and shrimp, freshly fried and crispy; I ate about half as is, then dipped it in the broth from midway and enjoyed it. There isn't that much udon itself, but because the kakiage is so big I got pretty full. The "大判かき揚げうどん" I had this time had delicious, filling kakiage, and for 640 yen it was very satisfying. Thank you for the meal.

I was a bit peckish, so before work I went to "味満" in front of Juso Station. I had kasu soba with a tsukimi (raw egg) topping, plus chikuwa tempura and a yukari onigiri. The dashi, rich with the umami of the kasu, had a nice yuzu aroma and was really delicious! It went well with the tsukimi, and the chikuwa tempura was big and filling. The yukari onigiri was tasty too, very satisfied. There were two staff members; the man was friendly and easy to talk to, and the older woman was also very polite, so the service was pleasant. On the way out I got a "Thanks for visiting ticket," and if you collect 5 stamps you get one tempura of your choice. Nice touches like this make me happy! Good food and good service, a place that makes me want to come back and eat again!

I ordered kakiage udon, and out came a freshly fried, loaded, huge, huge kakiage! They fry it after you order, and it was served super fast, which I really appreciated. The crispy kakiage went really well with the bonito salt too. Even though it's a standing place, the thoughtfulness of giving me a small plate to make eating easier felt great◎ He was a kind, friendly guy! It's nice that you can choose the noodle thickness too. The dashi was the slightly sweet kind that makes you go "yep, this is Kansai," delicious. I'm curious about the other menu items and tempura too, so I'll be dropping by often. Thank you for the meal!

Visited on a Saturday around 15:00. As you'd expect, there was only about 1 other customer. There were so many menu items that I hesitated for a moment in front of the ticket machine. Since I'd come all the way to Kansai, I bought the "Kasu." While handing over the ticket, I said I'd like it with soba. It's a shame I only noticed afterward that the tenkasu was free. The kasu soba that came out was loaded with crispy beef kasu, and it even had yuzu peel on top. No wonder it costs more than the kakiage soba. The beautifully colored dashi was sweet, with a solid umami probably thanks to the beef kasu. Including the soft, soft soba, I was a little moved, thinking, I'm eating standing soba in Kansai. The staff were surprisingly polite too, a place I'll definitely stop by whenever I come to Juso.

Reasonably priced, and since it's standing-only you can eat quickly. Being a standing place in front of the station, I didn't expect much, but it was pretty tasty, which surprised me (^w^) The tempura is freshly fried too. Items that take a long time to fry are made in advance and then double-fried after you order, so they're crispy! Tenkasu is free (sometimes there's ginger or beans mixed in, which feels like a bonus (^w^)) The dashi is sweet too, just the way I like it (*^^*) I love sweeter flavors so I usually always get kitsune udon, but with the broth here I'm totally satisfied♡ The onigiri are small bale-shaped ones, and 1 is way too little, so I recommend 2 or more. The sign out front only had a few menu items, so I decided based on that and went in, and the ticket machine had way more!! For indecisive people, I'd love the full menu out front too~ (I actually wanted ginger tempura udon) The ticket machine is a bit confusing. Even more so when buying for two. They ask udon, thin udon, or soba when you hand over the ticket (the ticket machine says thin udon) Both cash and QR payment are accepted.
