A curry shop in the shopping street in front of Hanaten Station. No parking. Seven counter seats inside. Not many kinds of curry, but you can feel the dedication. Maybe the spices could be a bit stronger? You adjust the heat yourself with the black pepper etc. on the table. The staff's attentiveness is reassuring. Value for money is average.
View on GoogleA curry shop I'd been curious about for a while. It's run by two female staff, and on Fridays they team up with the beer shop across the street and open in the evening, so I came for the first time. The heat is mild, it's easy to eat and delicious. The green curry was the best. The other curries are delicious too. I enjoyed it with a large serving of rice. Even after a beer and 2 highballs, it went down so well I could probably have added more rice. The curry menu is quite creative too, which is fun. Next time I'd like to have curry during the day on a Sunday while enjoying a drink. Thanks for the meal.
View on GoogleThe lonely shopping street in front of Hanaten Station is being reborn. Under a plan called the Hanaten Shopping Street Revitalization Project, more and more attractive shops of all kinds are opening. This curry shop also opened just recently. Even though it's new, it's quite popular, and it feels like it's always closed because it's sold out. This day I got a seat without waiting, but the customers who came right after me were waiting outside. The menu has these two options. ・2-kind aigake 1,150 yen ・3-kind aigake 1,400 yen And the all-important curries are these three. ・Chicken curry ・Dashi keema curry ・Shrimp coconut curry Since I'm here, I'll go with the 3-kind aigake~. ◆3-kind aigake 1,400 yen tax included Out came a delicious-looking curry with a head-on shrimp boldly making its presence felt. Besides the 3 curries, there's a little bean curry on top too, and side dishes of carrot thoran, spring cabbage coleslaw, and nanban-style new onion and eggplant brighten up the curry plate. The head-on shrimp gets your hands dirty, but let's peel it and eat. Firm and meaty with sweetness—shrimp really is delicious. The coconut curry has the shrimp essence coming through, and the coconut sweetness is just my taste, nice♪ The dashi keema, true to its name, is a curry with a strong dashi flavor that feels very Japanese, but the spices are solid too. The chicken curry is the spiciest of the three, yet it's also a delicious curry with some mildness. You can mix it with the side dishes and bean curry to enjoy all sorts of flavor combinations. Personally, it would have been even better with basmati rice instead of Japanese rice. I came without expecting much, but it was unexpectedly delicious and I was a little surprised, lol With this quality, they'll probably gain more fans. Thanks for the meal!
View on GoogleAt Hoshikura Curry (the 'curry' is written in kanji) I had the 3-kind aigake and a shiso juice. This day, the three were: Dashi keema curry Shrimp coconut curry Lu rou fan The dashi keema curry is spicy, yet I love the Japanese feel of the dashi! The coconut curry is light and smooth, and the shrimp is nice and plump. The lu rou fan is sweet with a nice meaty feel. Eating the three in turn, you never get bored. The side dishes placed at the borders between the curries are pretty and delicious too! But since it's so good, I want a bigger portion lol Since the spices in the curry aren't too assertive, the shiso juice after the meal refreshes you all at once. The shop is hard to find, but it was a happy curry on a summer afternoon. Thank you for the meal.
View on Google[The presence of a big shrimp! The shrimp coconut curry is my pick] Hoshikura Curry, a spice curry shop about a 1-minute walk from Hanaten Station! Spice curry is rare around here (╹◡╹) It's in a stylish shopping street area that's being redeveloped. I visited around 12:00 on a weekend, and that day I got in right away! Inside there are 7 seats at an L-shaped counter, and most customers were women. The staff are women and the lighting is bright, so it seems easy for a woman to go in alone *\(^o^)/* There are 3 standard curries and 1 curry of the day! I like to start with the standards at a new place, so I ordered the 3-kind aigake! ・Chicken curry ・Dashi keema curry ・Shrimp coconut curry Apparently bean curry comes on top too, so it's practically 4 kinds of curry plus 3 side dishes—very colorful. There were star-shaped carrots on the side, so cute (╹◡╹) The curry came out in under 10 minutes. What caught my eye was a big shrimp!! ∑(゚Д゚) This is amazing…! Such an impact, I'm so happy! Glad I chose the shrimp curry! For lunch in this area, 1,400 yen is relatively pricey, but with a curry that has a big shrimp in it, it makes sense. The shrimp curry has a nice balance of coconut milk sweetness and moderate heat, delicious♪ Personally my top pick! The chicken curry had a flavor that made me wonder if there's Hatcho miso in it—new and delicious! The chicken comes in big chunks too, very satisfying◎ The keema curry is apparently eaten with yuzu squeezed over it, so it's quite refreshing! Since the yuzu comes through strongly, the curry flavor is maybe a bit lighter? If you go for the 2-kind standard aigake, shrimp × chicken should let you fully enjoy the curry flavor. The side dishes have flavors Japanese people like! One thing that bothered me a little was how moist the white rice was? This is purely my preference, but since the curry itself is light and runny here, I feel firmer-cooked rice, basmati, or brown rice would go better. I'd be happy if firmer rice options become available in the future *\(^o^)/* Thanks for the meal!
