About 800 years ago, the area around Shitennoji was the sunset spot; nowadays it has moved here. As a date spot at dusk, this location overlooking everything from the Hanshin area to the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is the best!

View on GoogleLocated in the southwest of Maishima (read “Maishima”), an artificial island in Konohana Ward, Osaka City, this Shin-Yuhigaoka is ideal as a little personal photo spot. The especially recommended season is early summer. The view of a piercing blue sky, billowing cumulonimbus clouds, and grass and trees gently swaying in the wind stretching out all around is just like a scene from the Ghibli film “Spirited Away.” Time here flows with nothing but peace. You get the illusion that you've arrived in some faraway world, where it's unthinkable that a war is going on somewhere in the world, or that incidents are happening somewhere today. Close your eyes, feel the wind with your whole body, and take a big deep breath, and you'll feel refreshed. You can feel your brain, worn out by today's information-overloaded society, becoming clear. In this pastoral moment, memories of elementary school summer vacations suddenly come back. On weekdays there's almost nobody around, so you can immerse yourself in shooting without worrying about people getting in the shot. In this photogenic space, you get the feeling you might take the best shot of your life, and it gets kind of exciting. Portraits are great too. You should be able to capture your subject's natural, relaxed expressions. Here, they can pose freely without worrying about anyone watching. If your subject is a woman, a white one-piece dress is recommended. Against the blue and green background, a white skirt fluttering in the wind looks absolutely stunning. And right now, amazingly! You can also see Yumeshima under construction from the hill. If you bring binoculars, you can clearly make out the much-talked-about world's largest wooden ring. Access from the mainland is good too. Buses run from Nishikujo Station and Sakurajima Station, so even people without a car can easily get there. Maishima has few convenience stores and toilets, so it's best to take care of shopping and such on the mainland before heading over. There's little shade, so don't forget UV protection like sunscreen and a parasol. To prevent heatstroke, stay hydrated regularly! Please enjoy a memorable photoshoot here at Shin-Yuhigaoka.

View on GoogleIt was the middle of the night, so I couldn't take a leisurely walk…, but since “sunset” is in its name, I suppose you can see a beautiful sunset.
