I stopped in this restaurant because they serve Okonomiyaki and I wanted to try it out, as I haven’t had it yet. This restaurant is very famous online being at the heart of Shinsekai and in almost every photo regarding Shinsekai. First things first, the pricing on the sign outside is not the actual pricing. It’s slightly more expensive when you look at their online menu. I posted photos of the outside menu with the oko pricing, and a snapshot of the oko pricing on their actual menu for comparison. I wasn’t too happy about that. Then when you enter the restaurant you are greeted with a card that states you have to pay a “table fee” and you MUST purchase a drink on top of that. I ordered a Coke and it was pretty flat. It didn’t have that famous Coke burn to it. For the table fee, it was ¥363 for the table fee, if I remember correctly. The food was good, but the deception of the pricing and the forced additional charges are the reasons for my rating. I would recommend for only ONE visit just to say you’ve been there.

This is without a doubt the worst place that I have visited during my time in Japan. The food was mediocre at best. The okonomiyaki was 90% batter with tiny scraps of cabbage inside, doused with sauce on top. The crispy fried chicken were deep fried pieces of fat with no actual meat inside. And for a place that REQUIRES every customer to purchase a drink, the drinks arrived flat. Service was absolutely horrid and communication was nonexistent. If you want to come to a place to be completely ignored by waiting staff and literally have to beg them to check on the status of your food only to eventually be served mid food, this is your place. Otherwise avoid at all costs and find a more decent place a short walk away.

Had dinner at this Japanese restaurant and the experience was a mixed bag. The potato salad and grilled squid were both pretty decent and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the grilled chicken thigh and chicken skin were quite disappointing—they lacked the flavour and char you’d expect from grilled items. We also tried the fried noodles, but they didn’t really stand out and were below what we’ve had at other Japanese restaurants. Overall, the appetisers were fine, but the grilled meats and noodles were underwhelming. Probably not a place I’d return.

This place is a tourist trap. The cooks were all not trained well. The skewers were oily and the chicken was dry. Food was awful no flavour. Just go one Street over either side for better food.
