We were staying in Juso and wanted some sushi! Stumbled across this restaurant. If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese experience, this is the place for you. There are about 8 seats around the bar so may have to wait for someone to leave, but people were in and out quickly, so not an issue. An older gentleman serves, cooks, cleans right infront of you - no english, however he is very accommodating. The sushi was divine. Tiny little restaurant, with the most amazing feel to it. Sushi was around 250¥ per 2 pieces. Two of us ate and our bill was around 1,400¥ (£7.30). Would recommend to anyone looking for sushi!

Getting off the train at Juso with more energy than Umeda. I stepped down into the deepening night of Juso's village・.。*・.。* Inside the L-shaped counter is a single taciturn master. It is a seasoned and truly渋い (subdued and charming) shop. ■ Kasujiru (Sake lees soup) ■ Octopus with vinegar ■ Conger eel ■ Tekkamaki (Tuna roll) ■ Perilla leaf (Shiso) ■ Cold tofu ■ Pickled shallots (Rakkyo) ◎ Cold sake Kasujiru after drinking a lot sinks deep into the body ~ this is a win. Shiso maki with plum was a flavor I liked ♡ Drinking with a poignant feeling~♪ There were three of us drinking quietly side by side ( ¯꒳¯ )。。。

Drinking in Juso after a long time, the final sushi restaurant. Run by the master alone. It's a counter-only shop. I'm happy because the prices are reasonable. We all drank well.

Entered just past 9 PM. Right after entering, I was told 'we don't have much neta (toppings)', and looking at the showcase, there really wasn't much, but I ordered 'squid', 'kanpachi', and 'toro'. The neta was ordinary, but how should I say about the rice shaping, a shari machine? haha. However, the inside of the shop has a strong Showa atmosphere and feels nice. In this day and age, it feels like a place where you can smoke in a sushi restaurant. The bottled beer and TV make a good contrast. Finally, I ordered tekkamaki to take out. Even when talking to him, he is unfriendly, and for a sushi restaurant, it's a bit dirty. It feels almost as if he is doing the Showa era on purpose. It smells distinctively of something, like a cat is around. However, only the atmosphere of the shop has a strong Showa vibe, like a scene from a movie. With the beer and the takeout at the end, the bill was 2,500 yen. Isn't that a bit cheap? haha. When I finally said thank you for the meal, for some reason he said thank you so very much. Ookini ookini! The tsundere vibe at the end was funny. Maybe he thinks he couldn't survive if he were friendly at this price. If so, that makes sense. The rating is low, but I might go again.

Visited on the night of July 5, 2026. This is a sushi restaurant with a very historic look, located in an alley just a short walk from Juso Station. The interior features only traditional counter seats. It is by no means large, but an atmosphere that is somehow calming and homey floats in the air. Because seating is limited, visiting in a small group is recommended. For drinks, I ordered bottled beer. Being able to choose the brand between Asahi and Kirin is a happy point for beer lovers. The dishes we had this time are as follows: ・Maguro Sashimi A dish where the freshness can be felt just from its appearance. Cut into thick slices, the inherent umami of the tuna could be firmly felt. Contrary to the nostalgic exterior of the shop, all the toppings served were very fresh, and I could feel the dedication put into sourcing. ・Nigiri (Torigai/Cockle, Konoshiro/Gizzard shad) Torigai had an exquisite texture and sweetness unique to it. Konoshiro was meticulously prepared, and the size of the rice and the pressure of shaping were just right, melting comfortably in the mouth. Enjoying this much alcohol and fresh fish, the bill was 2,250 yen. I feel it has exceptionally high cost-performance even within the Juso area. It is a wonderful hidden gem where you can casually drop by and enjoy authentic flavors without the high hurdles of a high-end restaurant. I would like to visit again when I am in the neighborhood.
