A Koyasan Shingon temple located at 8-4 Jonan Teramachi, Tennoji Ward, Osaka City. It is sacred site No. 16 of the 88 sites of Settsu Province; its mountain name is Kozusan, its principal image is the Eleven-Faced Thousand-Armed Kannon, and it was founded in Kan'ei 3. The building houses a columbarium and a family funeral hall, making it a temple where all kinds of Buddhist rites can be handled comprehensively. The nearest station is "Osaka Uehommachi Station" on the Kintetsu Line, about an 8-minute walk away.

Visited 2020/01/02 Settsu 88 Sacred Sites temple The whole building is a temple, taking a modern form. Also worth special mention is how the main hall floor is built. Voices echo like crazy, so when you chant sutras you feel like you've gotten better at it, and it feels great. I got to chat with the head priest, who apparently graduated from an art university, and the various Buddha statues have been restored in vivid colors based on historical records. Also, since Buddhism has the aspect that it's not just knowledge but action that counts, in keeping with that he's had a hand in reviving the Osaka 33 Kannon Pilgrimage, and as part of teaching the importance of life, he runs an initiative at local elementary schools to have the kids not just keep but raise rhinoceros beetles. Though elderly, he was a head priest still full of drive.

Settsu 88 Sacred Sites. A temple in the middle of the city, and its facilities are modern, or rather, it's a building.
