Why this shop's karaage is fatally not delicious. The double-frying time Double frying is done so that the first fry heats and cooks the inside all the way through, and the second fry crisps up the outside. The reason FamilyMart's Famichiki is crispy and juicy is that when it's fried in the store, that's the second fry. The staff here, misunderstanding something, double-fry the karaage for 3 minutes and then cut it through the middle with a knife. Either they don't know the point of double frying, or they're using meat that's far from fresh, or the first fry is too short? In any case, the double fry is pointless. On top of that, they go so far as to double-fry it, cut the middle with a knife, and even let it cook in the residual heat. If they were using fresh oil, you could at least enjoy that oil too, but they're dumping all the flavor and aroma of the meat into the oil. What you end up eating is dried-out chicken that tastes only of flavorless batter. Thigh meat, whose strength is its juiciness, has turned into something like breast meat. There's no way you can eat delicious karaage with this cooking process. The staff member is a woman with long hair tied back, but every time she moves I'm nervous her hair will get into the karaage. I think wearing at least a hat or something would look more hygienic. As an aside, the only 500 yen bento you can buy at this shop is the breast-meat karaage bento. It's a taste you won't come back for after trying it once.

First time I've ever had a bad karaage bento. You'd be better off eating some other karaage and starting over. When I asked if the karaage was freshly fried, they said they'd fry it now, and then 2 minutes later they said the bento was ready. If it's done in 2 minutes, it's definitely been double-fried. Sure enough, when I opened the lid and looked at the karaage, the karaage was pitch black and rock hard. Sorry, but it's not in an edible state. If anything, it's rude. It doesn't even deserve 1 star. Honestly, it's a skull… If you're running a karaage specialty shop, please make karaage that satisfies your customers. You can't charge money for that.

Is it every month? I happened to pass by on the 19th, the day when single-item karaage gets cheaper, and bought some. I got the spicy karaage and a teriyaki burger; a single order of 100 grams comes with 3 pieces. It was discounted to 190 yen, but the taste is ordinary. It's tasty, if you want to call it tasty. But for this taste and size, the usual 300 yen per 100 grams is way too expensive. The teriyaki burger took about 5 minutes for takeout, but it was completely cold, which was disappointing. The staff were all obviously young part-timers in their teens. It's not that their service was bad, but I waited quite a while. I felt it wasn't worth the wait……, so 3 stars.

When it first opened, someone (I don't know if it was the manager) served freshly fried karaage, so it was delicious, but lately a young girl or a young male part-timer has been serving, and the karaage was greasy and sticky because the oil wasn't drained well, or I was made to buy chicken that was half-raw, which was a shock. They were putting karaage fried hours earlier into the bag, so I asked for freshly fried, waited a while and watched, and like total amateurs they took the chicken out of the oil, cut it in half with a knife, and checked whether it was cooked through about 2 times. When I got home and ate it, it was half-raw and I felt sick, so I threw it away. I thought they could at least serve customers with a smile, but there wasn't even a smile. My home is nearby so I used to go buy from them now and then, but I've gradually been going less and less. There are no good restaurants around here.

The shio koji karaage is sometimes burnt or not well seasoned, depending on the day. It was delicious 2 out of 5 times. On the decent days it's insanely delicious. Since it's a shop, I want them to be able to deliver a consistent taste. Also, personally, rather than furikake on the rice, I'd like them to lay even just a little cabbage under the karaage.
