View on GoogleAn incredible location: the restaurant is immediately on the right as you leave exit 3 of 長堀橋駅. It was my first time having hot pot, but the wide variety of dipping sauces made it really enjoyable. The meat presentation is striking; women would enjoy it too, and visiting with friends would get everyone excited. I'll visit again.
View on GoogleOsaka's most famous Sichuan restaurant is 芙蓉苑. Overall, it's a fairly distinctive Sichuan restaurant. The dishes taste quite authentic, with pronounced numbing heat and rich aromas, so people who like bold flavors or want Sichuan food should be very satisfied. The portions are generous too, making it suitable for several people to order and share. The setting is simple but generally clean, and the service is very good. However, the overall flavors lean spicy and oily, so if you aren't good with spicy food or are dining with young children, you may want to consider that beforehand. Overall, if you're looking for a restaurant with Sichuan flavors in Osaka, 芙蓉苑 is a good choice.
View on GoogleI visited 芙蓉苑, conveniently located a 1-minute walk from 大阪メトロ長堀橋駅. Apparently there are separate premises on the 1st and 2nd floors of ビルドアップ長堀橋ビル. The interior felt clean, with an atmosphere suitable for dates or gatherings with female friends. This restaurant is reputed for authentic Sichuan cuisine and hot pot. The mapo tofu and hot pot in particular are apparently made by top-class chefs from Chongqing, with seasoning that also suits Japanese tastes. There were many Chinese customers as well as Japanese ones. For lunch, I had the signature mapo tofu set. The numbing heat of Sichuan pepper hits hard as soon as it enters your mouth, but that makes it appetizing and very delicious. However, it's served extremely hot, so as someone sensitive to hot food, I took a while to eat it. There is a large aquarium inside, and watching the goldfish swim was very soothing. The individual dishes “辣子鶏” and “干豆腐” also had authentic seasoning. You can choose the hot pot's heat level, so I think even people who love spicy food will be satisfied. Overall, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is nice, so I'd like to try other menu items if I have another chance.
