【March 13, 2026】 A characterful neighborhood Chinese restaurant in 阿倍野区王子町, about a 5-minute walk from either 松虫 or 東天下茶屋 stop on 阪堺電車（チン電）. Apparently, this October will mark 45 years since it opened. When I passed by before, its characterful atmosphere caught my attention and I thought I had to visit someday. I happened to be nearby at lunchtime on a weekday, so I stopped in. The veteran owner works the wok, just as you'd expect in a neighborhood Chinese restaurant. I ordered 酢豚 on its own for 650円 and 天津飯 on its own for 550円. Lately I'd only been eating 黒酢酢豚 at creative Chinese restaurants, so I was happy to have regular 酢豚 like this. This kind feels more right to me and tastes better than 黒酢酢豚. Then the 天津飯. The ingredients, the sauce, and everything else were faultless. Plenty of pork too—the ideal 天津飯. When I told the stern-looking owner that it was incredibly delicious, he gave me a smile, which really stayed with me. The menu is extensive too, so I'd like to return when I'm nearby again.

The quintessential neighborhood Chinese restaurant It has atmosphere, low prices, and that old-fashioned feel, I guess. I visited during a quiet spell after lunchtime. It seems mainly to serve regulars and delivery orders. There was quite an elderly person in the kitchen. It's wonderful seeing him still actively tossing the wok. I had a slightly good-value light-drinking set of sorts and 焼きそば. How can I put it—the 焼きそば was different from what I'd imagined, but chewy, strongly flavored yet easy to eat, and delicious.

I had チャーハン and 冷やし中華. The 冷やし中華 was a classic version, with a good balance of toppings and noodles, while the チャーハン was fragrant, perfectly seasoned, and delicious. It's a neighborhood Chinese restaurant I'd want to visit regularly if it were nearby.

The reason I visited 平戸飯店 was that I really wanted to eat 長崎ちゃんぽん. But the moment I saw the menu, the sheer variety of dishes tempted me into ordering other items too. First, I had the 焼き飯餃子セット. The 焼き飯 was the moist, lard-cooked kind, fragrant without being too heavy, and the 餃子 were crispy outside and juicy inside, with an exquisite balance. This alone seemed enough to fill me up, but since I was there, I decided to enjoy some other dishes too. Next, I ate 長崎ちゃんぽん（550円）, my main reason for coming. This was superb too, with vegetable-packed toppings and thickish noodles mingling with the soup, making it satisfying to eat. The gentle flavor was packed with umami, and the taste spreading through my mouth felt like truly classic 長崎ちゃんぽん. The 骨付き唐揚げ（650円） I ordered last offered an exquisite contrast between juicy meat overflowing with juices and crisply fried skin, making it thoroughly satisfying. The fragrance and meaty umami spreading with every bite were irresistible. Overall, every dish was of very high quality, the prices were reasonable, and the meal left both my stomach and my heart completely satisfied. If I get another chance, I'd definitely like to return.
