Walked in after tour at the sumiyoshi taisha shrine and learnt the eel rice restaurant recommended in the guide book closed on Saturdays. Unexpected delight on the quality of the food and the atmosphere here at Chez Lien. Highly recommend !

After visiting Sumiyoshi Taisha, I came at lunchtime right after opening. It was a Sunday, but it was relaxed early on. A few minutes' walk from Sumiyoshi Taisha Station, a little north of 「やろく」, on the east side under the elevated tracks—look for the flag. A clean interior, pleasant, natural service, delicious and reasonably priced food, and coffee brewed from freshly ground beans. I got to spend a relaxing time for the first time in a while. I had the daily lunch: 2 kinds of appetizers and a salad, a substantial soup, and a main. And you can choose not only bread but also rice, with refills OK on both—a great deal. On top of that, it even comes with a petit dessert. Even adding coffee, it was 2,050 yen. The bill almost made me feel bad. Since it was my first train trip in a while, I slightly regretted not ordering some wine. I'd like a drink menu on the table. All in all, it was a place that made me want to spend more. Maybe I could have added an à la carte pasta or pizza to the daily lunch, but I'll save that for dinner to look forward to.

Finally found a meal that moved me, for the first time in ages! I can't believe there was a place like this so close to home. I reserved for 11:30, went in, and ordered today's lunch for 1700 yen. It was delicious from the appetizers on, and the main meat dish was wonderful with real depth of flavor. I had plenty of rice refills, and the staff were humorous—very satisfied. It comes with a petit dessert too, and the atmosphere is nice; recommended for dates as well.

I didn't have a reservation, but a seat had just opened up, so I got right in! I had the 1,500 yen lunch of the day. The food was very filling and delicious! I got totally full! It even came with dessert, so I thought it was reasonable. This time I had plans afterward so I didn't order a drink, but they grind the beans for the after-meal coffee, so next time I want to have coffee before leaving. (Coffee +380 yen) The shop's atmosphere was bright and felt spacious! The staff were all smiles, kind and courteous! It felt like a local Italian spot loved by its regulars, which warmed my heart (^^) Thank you so much♪

A lovely, stylish shop with a bit of a hidden-gem feel. Of course, the food is all delicious. The hors d'oeuvres especially come in many varieties and are reasonably priced. Recommended. No complaints about the pizza or pasta either. Spot on! They politely handled the hard-to-understand requests of the person at the next table. Both the atmosphere and the staff give a really good impression. This is the shop that used to be in the shopping arcade, right? I want to go again. Looks like I'll become a regular.
