The proprietors of this restaurant might just be the friendliest, sweetest, cutest, and most kind people in Japan. From other reviews we expected an authentic Japanese experience, and we came away overwhelmed by the kindness of the owners. From the moment we walked through the curtain they made us feel like members of their family. While they made it clear that they could only speak Japanese, Pop-Pop was a wizard with Google translate, ensuring we were accommodated. The food was just delightful. As a group we decided we would not get the most of the menu if we tried to translate and decipher what to order; we simply asked “what would you recommend.” The answer was: “I recommend everything” and he began to bring us out some plates. We were not disappointed in the slightest with our experience. The meat was top notch, the sauces were simply divine, and the drinks were made with love. The lovely couple running the shop ensured we had smiles on our faces the whole time. When you visit this shop, consider it a reflection of your own gratitude if Mee-Maw brings out her fresh made pickles. You would be entirely remiss should you not visit this shop while in Osaka. On another note, the value proposition of this restaurant is top notch. For the amount—and quality—of the food we had, it would be hard to beat.

This is the real Japanese experience you are looking for. The vibe was great. Grill right in front of you. Owners are fantastic. Super friendly. The food was amazing. Ended up getting their set menu, came with a ton of food and it was all fantastic. The fire was a bit hot so had to be careful when grilling bit was fun. Will go when we get back to Osaka. They will have their 50th anniversary next month!

Hidden Gems. We found this place near our residence. Good food with real Japanese spirit. We’ll back if we have chance.

We were the only non Japanese people over there. They helped us with translations from Japanese to ask questions and let us feel welcomed. The experience was great. The quality of the food was great, they explained the cut of the beef that they were serving, provided advice how to taste at best, and offered an egg soup that was delicious. The price for the quality was very good. In a short sentence I may say it is a Japanese simple and traditional place as we think as western people.

We found this place by chance and immediately fell in love. Family atmosphere, mother/son management. Superb food, friendly and quiet service. We had a great meal! 😋 Super recommended, if you pass by Osaka you can't miss it! SGRAVATO! (Slang for italian people)
