I've been about 3 times, and the store owner grandpa's personality is crazy! At first he felt personable and conversation flowed so I started going regularly, but even while grilling meat he just keeps staring, and he apparently hates how I grill it so every single time he interferes with how I eat, saying "You're grilling too much," "Put more meat on," or "Eat it now." At first I reluctantly followed the 'when in Rome' rule, but the more I went, the more nagging he got and his tone became stronger, which was honestly annoying to me too, so when I started grilling while half-ignoring him, that seemed to piss him off and he finally snapped, yelling, "If you're gonna grill it like that, gas is a waste!" No way, the doneness is a person's own choice... To top it off, he tried to forcefully turn off the fire even though there was still meat left, so I got a bit pissed and stopped him... Eh? Are you serious? I can't believe it at this point, but even after that, he unrepentantly kept complaining the whole time: That's it! It's already cooked! etc. lol It's not like I was eating sluggishly with just one or two dishes, nor were there other customers coming in. I was just normally eating while drinking beer at my preferred doneness, growing about two slices at a time. By the way, my order is always 4 plates of meat, 2 beers, and rice, staying for about 45 minutes, which is quite common-sense, or rather, considering I'm drinking alcohol, a fairly quick dining time. Even so, a yakiniku restaurant that comes to turn off the fire saying the gas bill is a waste if he doesn't like something—did I do something wrong? I don't know if he's been doing it for 50 years, but if gas costs are that wasteful, I think he should quit the yakiniku business. Afterwards, feeling in a bad mood, I went to drink again at a nearby izakaya and talked about it, and apparently he's famous in the neighborhood for being eccentric? And the local people laughed, saying "Don't go there~" Come to think of it, he did say himself that locals almost never come, grandpa lol
View on GoogleA restaurant visited during Kori-en exploration ✨✨ Unbelievably, the number of reviews is just 1! Moreover, it's posted only by the tabelogger "Kikuchan Kuzuha" ☺️✨✨ I was able to discover it before living here and leaving Kori-en ✨✨ Located about an 8-minute walk from Kori-en Station in a residential area, standing all alone with a red tent as its landmark, this restaurant is amazingly!!!! An ultra-long-established store operating in this location for 46 years, managed by an elderly couple ☺️✨✨ ※For reference ✨ ●Tabelog Rating● 3.01 (1 review count) ※As of 2024/11/08 Ordered Menu ■Salted tongue : 900 yen ■Harami : 800 yen ■Medium rice : 250 yen ■Kimchi : Service (on the house) ■Cabbage : Service (on the house) Out of my usual habit when photographing the menu posted on the wall, the wife said, "What did you just do?" and maybe... "No filming!?" As I explained that I'm writing it on a blog and if it's no good I'll delete the photos and won't film, she said... Okay! Actually, it seems rare for customers to come and take pictures, so that's why she asked ✨ ...Panic Pulling myself together, I ordered draft beer from the menu! Then, the kimchi I was about to order arrived, and the master said, "It's on the house so eat up," a happy service ✨✨ Moreover, it's homemade pickled, a bit spicy but delicious kimchi that goes insanely well with alcohol ✨✨✨ While eating, she asked to lend her the plate and refills were free too lol And the meat was salt tongue and harami... For solo yakiniku, the portions were huge ☺️✨ The tongue didn't come with lemon, but eating it with salt and pepper had a solid umami, a nice texture, and was delicious ✨ The harami also had great volume, went wonderfully with the homemade soy sauce-based tare, and eating it piled on rice was a portion that could fill you up just with that ✨✨✨ Since I was the only customer and being watched by the couple was quite nerve-wracking, I could enjoy delicious yakiniku with the feeling of coming to my grandfather's house ✨ A memory of having them talk to me a lot and having fun ✨ More and more Kori-en shops that I wish I had met sooner are being found, making me feel somewhat sentimental ✨✨
View on GoogleOld-fashioned yakiniku shop The meat is delicious, and above all, the sides like gukbap and cold noodles are delicious! It's located right in a residential area, but regulars always come in. It's quite small, so often when you want to go, it's full and you can't go... The fact that it has stayed put without going out of business despite its location means just that ◎ Those looking for a clean appearance or photogenic qualities, please go to chain stores (laughs) The only yakiniku shop that my child, who hates yakiniku, voluntarily asks to go to ◎
