[December 25, 2025] A creative Chinese restaurant located about a 3-minute walk from Keihan Kourien Station. Visiting this place is about 10 years. I dropped by a few times right after they opened and thought it was super delicious, but as it soon became a popular restaurant where getting in without a reservation was difficult, I drifted away. Passing in front of the shop 1 hour before weekday lunch ended, it looked like there was just 1 seat open, so even though I wasn't hungry at all, I dropped by on impulse. By the way, this is my first time visiting for lunch. The interior is full, centered around chatting elderly madam demographics. Ordered the Bistro Lunch for 1,580 yen. First to arrive was the steamed salad. Eaten with sesame sauce, it was super delicious. It's been a while since I thought a salad was delicious. Next, starchy egg tofu. Simple yet delicious. And then the main dishes of ebi chili and congee arrived. The ebi chili had a strong tomato sauce feel; since the buildup was perfect, I had expected more, but it was surprisingly normal. The congee had an outstanding salt balance and this was delicious. It's been a while, but it's still quite delicious. It makes sense that getting in without a reservation is hard. However, the bottleneck of lunchtime is that the customer base consists exclusively of groups of elderly chatting madamas lingering for long periods, so customer turnover is poor, and the interior is as noisy as an izakaya. Comfort for solo lunch diners is iffy.

Rather than delicious food, I think the concept is 'fun with lots of little things coming out,' so if that's your goal, then ⚪︎. To give a specific example, the lightly pickled zha cai tasted like they used cucumber quick-pickle mix? Which surprised me. Others looked cute, but unfortunately, none felt like they put commitment into the taste. However, the price is appropriate considering the large number of items, so if you don't put taste first, it's fine.

Recently, I had two major misses in a row in Kourien, making me afraid of exploring new local places, but today was still a winner 🎯 With good accessibility, about a 4-5 minute walk from Kourien Station, its charm is the 'hidden gem' atmosphere tucked away in a quiet alley. While maintaining a calm space, as the name 'Bistro' implies, there is none of the clutter of a neighborhood Chinese diner. Characterized by a style that feels the warmth of handmade food, it is supported by all ages as a local 'easy-to-use Chinese' place. [Food & Taste] The seasoning of each dish is good, the quality is higher than expected, and everyone was satisfied this time. My 5-year-old grandson got hooked on the steamed shrimp dumplings. The steamed chicken also came with two sauces, and we ordered one of each, but both were seasoned well. The stir-fried seafood and seasonal street food with salt was also delicious, and the Wagyu ribeye with black pepper sauce was impeccable. For the final finish, we had town-Chinese style omurice. Ketchup fried rice wrapped in a cooked thin omelet, which frankly speaking, was average. [Access] Close to the station, about a 4-5 minute walk from Keihan Kourien Station, making it an extremely convenient location if using public transportation. However, there is no parking lot, so care is needed if coming by car. [Store Atmosphere] Compact with only 16 seats in total, a bright, calm, and stylish space spreads out, but today it was full and felt oppressive. Normally, it has the casual stylishness of blackboard menus lined up, and a vibe perfect for a leisurely lunch or casual dinner. To some extent, it feels like 'a slightly high-sense neighborhood Chinese joint.' [Service] Glad I made an advance reservation. Because it was full, there were slight delays in food preparation. That said, since one person seems to be cooking meals for 16 people, it must be really tough. They handle private buyouts and even takeout, responding flexibly depending on the usage scene. Cashless payments (cards, electronic money, QR codes) are also available, hinting at high convenience. [Price & Value] The authentic Chinese dinner course was also listed at around 4,900 yen. The items we requested this time are roughly 800 to 1,000 yen. Being expensive, the Wagyu ribeye steak was 2,800 yen. Since it was 24,000 yen for 6 people, at 4,000 yen per person, it was a satisfying meal. You could even call it 'good value for money'.

Ordered the dim sum lunch + dessert set as a treat to myself. 2,200 yen!! Prices keep rising due to inflation. Weekday lunches have many housewives, and elderly people also seem common. I feel like if you go around 2 PM, seats are often open. My absolute favorite is the seafood congee!! It is ridiculously delicious!!

The lunch we had at 'Chinese Bistro Uchida' was one where you could clearly sense care put into every single dish. Starting with the salad, it was elaborate, with fine cutting and a good seasoning balance, conveying from the very first bite that 'this is a shop that makes things with care.' The daily special shrimp chili sauce wasn't just pushed by spiciness or heaviness; the cooking time for the shrimp was exquisite, retaining a plump texture, and the sauce clung to it with refinement. Fine work is visible everywhere, making it clear that preparations are done with care. Fulfilling the name bistro, while being Chinese it had a somewhat refined impression, making it a restaurant with a comfortable sense of satisfaction. I'd definitely like to try other menu items next time.
