An old-fashioned restaurant with a nostalgic taste, truly delicious. What makes me happy is that they keep their prices unchanged, which is a huge help. My recommendation is the daily lunch special at midday. Other than that, I'd recommend the value sets: the tamagodon and kizami udon set, the fried rice and kizami udon set, and the omurice and kizami udon set. It's a bit far from my workplace, so I only manage to come about 1-2 times a year, but I always enjoy my meal. Next time, sometime soon, I'm thinking of coming again with my wife. My wife said Sarashina's fried shrimp was delicious when we came last time. Really, whatever you eat has that nostalgic taste of the old days, and for the first time in a while I felt at ease. It's a bit of a distance from Neyagawashi Station, but I think it's worth going at least once. There's a 4-person table, with a horigotatsu in winter and comfortable seating in summer, so if you're eating at Sarashina with two or more people, I'd recommend the table seats. I'm really glad I came to Sarashina after so long.

I went in the mood for curry udon, and they recommended the stamina curry udon. I thought about getting a large serving of noodles, but the lady at the shop gently warned me, "That's a lot." When I actually ate it, it was just right. At the end they also suggested adding rice, but I couldn't eat it. It was the perfect dish for a cold day.

Well, it's an ordinary diner. The daily special was hamburg steak, but it's not homemade, so I don't think it's a place you'd want to go out of your way to eat at. For locals it has the feel of a calm, old-fashioned diner, but the prices are on the high side.

About 50 years ago, when I was little, my mother took me there and I had the curry-flavored rice bowl. Back then eating out was a luxury, and it seems that for my mother it was also a reward for herself. Deep down I wanted to eat at the MOS Burger in front of Top Center. But hamburgers seemed too Western and fancy for my mother; they didn't fit her idea of a meal. On her recommendation I ordered the "curry rice bowl," but what came out was completely different from what a child's palate imagined curry to be, and I remember being taken aback. On the way home from Komatsu Hospital, or after shopping at Nagasakiya (for residents around Ōtoshi Shrine back then, the department store was Nagasakiya, daily goods came from the Ōtoshi Shopping Street, groceries from Top Center or Grand Super, and the public bath was Daifukuyu), it was our routine to have a late lunch at Sarashina Shokudo before heading home. I always had the curry rice bowl, of course. My mother passed away a long time ago, but I can't forget her happily enjoying her little luxury at Sarashina, or the taste of that curry rice bowl. After I started working I left Osaka, and the prefectural public housing near Ōtoshi Shrine where I was born and raised no longer exists, so I have no reason at all to go to Ōtoshi-chō. Where I live now, even when I try "soba-shop curry" at station soba stands along the Yamanote Line, they shamelessly serve perfectly ordinary curry. No creativity whatsoever. The world has become so convenient. I found out on Google Maps that Sarashina Shokudo is still in business. Looks like I now have a reason to go back to Ōtoshi.

It's an old-fashioned diner. Nostalgic atmosphere — I'd been looking for a diner just like this. I work in Tokyo and other places on a weekly rotation, but places like this are really hard to find these days. Whenever I'm working in Osaka and not out on sales calls, I always go there for lunch. It's great~
