An absolute must go if you are fond of hugeeee fish over rice ratio nigiri!!! No english menu but the staffs are very very friendly and are very helpful and patient with our google translate. The XL fish topping of nigiri are fantastic. Uni, unagi, toro and every piece of sashimi taste so so delicious!! Definitely recommend!

I've only ever been here for lunch, but it is without a doubt a delicious sushi restaurant. Did the management change? My mother used to buy take-out nigiri sushi here a long time ago, but the appearance of the nigiri sushi has changed. From the lunch set menu: ✔︎ Seafood Bowl 1,200 yen and ✔︎ Bluefin Tuna Negitoro Bowl 1,800 yen The fish is fresh and the firmness of the sushi rice is just right. The sashimi on the seafood bowl comes in many varieties and is very satisfying. Unbeatable value for money! It was also great that the negitoro bowl wasn't bulked up with fat, lol. The red miso soup had chunks of yellowtail in it, along with chawanmushi and a small side dish of stewed okara. Quite a few people seemed to be drinking during the day. My elderly mother who came with me was also delighted. I will visit again. Thank you for the meal!!!

The shop name has changed from Ichiraku to Souhonzan, but it remains a long-established restaurant with its signature huge toppings. I visited after a super long time. I was just drinking so I ended up not eating sushi after all. However, the sashimi, deep-fried dishes, and tempura are all delicious! This is a place I want to visit again and take my time. With counter seating, horigotatsu tatami seating, and a second floor, the restaurant accommodates small to large groups!

A restaurant that always comes up near the top when searching for fish-related places in Kourien. It doesn't have an exceptionally high rating, but I thought it must be quite popular locally. I had seen reviews with relatively high ratings during the blowfish season and since I had been meaning to go someday, I chose it as our second stop. When we actually went, there were quite a few customers, and since we had already ordered an assorted sashimi platter at the first place, I ordered hoping there would be other fish dishes here. ~Order details~ Draft beer 3 glasses 600 x 3 glasses Appetizer 300 yen x 3 Rolled omelet with crab starchy sauce 800 yen Corn tempura 700 yen Fried sweet tilefish with grated daikon starchy sauce 1,200 yen Bluefin tuna negitoro appetizer 800 yen - The appetizer looked like lightly simmered sardines and didn't look appetizing at all; I had a bad feeling. - I usually order corn tempura if it's on the menu, but what came out was not what I expected. There were two binding chunks on the plate, but tempura fried as separate kernels would have been tastier. - Next came the fried sweet tilefish with grated daikon starchy sauce, but to my surprise, it was just two surprisingly small pieces. Although it had starchy sauce on it, given the 1,200 yen price tag, I had imagined a completely different, larger fried fillet, and I was left speechless. - Just as I realized this was a total miss, the rolled omelet with crab starchy sauce arrived. There was so little crab meat that it would have been better without any. When I actually ate it, the flavor was weak and I couldn't taste the dashi broth. I added salt, but the others immediately added soy sauce. It's been a really long time since I've eaten a rolled omelet by changing the flavor. - The customer service and explanations of the dishes were completely hopeless. I couldn't understand at all why it had this rating on Tabelog. We weren't full, but we retreated without even eating sushi.
