Found this place along the road on the way to Naritasan by car. I had the hearty karaage set meal. It comes with 3 fist-sized pieces of fried chicken and a regular-sized udon. Cooking starts after taking orders, so if multiple orders overlap, it might take a little time. On this day there were only 2 preceding customers, and those 2 orders were already completed, so the waiting time was about 10 minutes. I arrived around 13:00, but customers continued to arrive after me, and the place became full. The karaage was juicy and went well with the rice, and even in my 40s I devoured it easily. The udon was slightly soft but delicious. The dashimaki set meal also seemed popular, as several subsequent customers ordered it. I heard from a work colleague that 'the karaage set meal here is quite delicious', so since I happened to be passing by just past noon on a Saturday, I decided to check it out. There is a large parking lot on the immediate west side of the shop, and spaces 40 and 41 are Hosan's spots. You mustn't park in other spaces by mistake. Entering the shop, it's counter seating only. I think there were about 10 seats. Without hesitation, I ordered the 'Karaage Set Meal'! It comes with rice and even udon. There are 3 pieces of karaage, but each one is quite large. Since there are 3 fist-sized pieces, it's very filling! The juicy chicken thigh meat encased in a slightly seasoned, super crispy batter is very delicious. Dip it in just a tiny bit of salt and it pairs amazingly with white rice! By the time I finished eating the udon at the end, I was already full. It turned out to be a highly satisfying lunch. The mother running the shop was also very humble and lovely, making me naturally want to go back and eat there again. I was happily surprised to find a masterclass karaage shop in an unexpected location.

Visited after a long time. Ordered the karaage set meal without hesitation. The price went up by 50 yen to 900 yen. Looking for a set meal restaurant, first visit. Unless you cannot eat karaage, first go ahead and order the karaage set meal without hesitating. Three large pieces of karaage are served. They are piping hot, so you should eat slowly. The rice has good volume, and udon is included as well.

Sunday, 2024/06, 12:30, it was fully booked and we waited a few minutes. Lots of students from the neighborhood junior high school keep coming. Chaperoning parents or coaches too. Feels like Sunday practice for athletic clubs. Ordered the karaage set meal for ¥850. Just like the reviews say, the karaage is large and freshly fried piping hot. The seasoning is slightly restrained (comes with dipping salt). Comes with rice. Plain udon is also included, making it quite filling. The udon is Osaka-style where you can't tell it's hand-made judging from the thickness, cross-section, or firmness. The dashi broth was delicious. The other items on the menu also had portions that seemed likely to appeal to young people.

A gritty set meal shop focusing on udon and soba, located close to Doshisha Kori High School. With a reputation for good karaage, my wife and I stopped by on a Sunday evening. Parking spaces are numbers 40 and 41 in the adjacent parking lot. Counter seating only, run by the mother and son? I ordered the karaage set meal for 850 yen and my wife ordered the white fish fry set meal for 750 yen (both with udon). The size of the karaage is out of this world, and you get 3 pieces. Moreover, it's juicy and delicious. Since this comes with white rice and udon, women or light eaters might struggle to finish it all. At this price and content, I'll go back again when I want to eat a hearty meal.
