Family-run. Excellent food with no short cuts taken as to ingredients or preparation; warm and friendly staff. Prices reasonable. Have eaten there twice in the last week and can highly recommend it.

Today at Moriguchishi Station this Chinese restaurant We came to Sichuan Mapo Specialty Shop Honto no Shiawase-san. Went before 12:00 and it was fully booked, got in just in time. A popular shop. Ordered mapo tofu and dry tantan noodles Mapo tofu upgraded to chicken karaage set Mapo tofu was spicy and an authentic taste hard to find around these parts Though my preference was the dry tantan noodles Not overly spicy and while the noodles aren't particularly distinctive, the sauce is delicious Mix it thoroughly to coat the noodles And another delicious item is the chicken karaage It's chicken breast karaage, but juicy and very delicious Above all, I was surprised by how cheap the tantan noodles were. Mapo tofu to my liking for the first time in a while. Ordered with spice level 2 and numbness level 1. Could clearly feel the umami amidst the spiciness, making the rice go down easy. They said refills were available, but if I wasn't on a diet I definitely would've eaten a second bowl. Heard the tantan noodles are also famous so I'll order those next time.

Dry tantan noodles and dry mapo tofu noodles are the signature menus. You can choose the spiciness and numbness levels from 3 tiers. Chose level 2 for both, which felt just right, but I sweated quite a bit. Coming as a set with rice and soup, you can put the rice in at the end, add the soup as well, and enjoy it in various ways.
