I visited the Moriguchi main branch of this extremely popular udon restaurant. It opens at 11:00, and I arrived around 10:15, at which time there was no line yet. However, people started to gather around 10:45, which really showed how popular this place is. Depending on the timing, a line can form very quickly, so arriving early is recommended. Also, it seems that large portions and hot udon take a bit longer to prepare, so it’s better to allow some extra time. I ordered the “niku maitake tempura bukkake udon with a soft-boiled egg,” and it was unquestionably delicious. The udon had a great chewy texture, the meat was flavorful, the maitake mushroom tempura was nicely crisp, and the soft-boiled egg tied everything together perfectly. The overall balance of the dish was excellent. If you want to experience the atmosphere of the main branch, the Moriguchi location is a great choice. That said, the Umeda branch is also consistently very good, so if convenience is more important, Umeda may be easier to visit. Either way, it’s a highly satisfying udon restaurant.

I’ve tried many udon around Japan, but this is my favorite!! There’ll be a queue during peak hours, but it’s so worth it. The fried mushroom and the udon noodles are just super yummy! 10/10 would recommend :)

The food here is good. The noodles are just right, not to soft and not too firm. The soup is delicious and the mushroom tempura is very good. The only downside was that the cups on the table for tea weren’t very clean.

Tempura Fried Mushroom Udon, beyond compare! Some of the best noodles I've ever had. Simultaneously flavorful, soothing and, deeply satisfying. This cozy little restaurant has a short menu on which every dish is prepared with incomparable perfection. I was seated right away, but I would line up for an hour for this soulful bowl.
