this was my go-to tempura spot after university. it’s a no-frills restaurant that focuses on doing tempura well and keeping things simple. ordering is done through a ticket machine, after which you line up and wait for a seat. I especially like how solo diner-friendly it is, since there are plenty of counter seats. just be prepared for really long lines during lunch hours. for the price, the quality of the tempura is surprisingly good. vegetarians can order the vegetable bowl (野菜定食), though you may need to clarify with the staff to have the shrimp removed. there are also additional solo vegetable tempura options available if you want to build a more filling meal. overall, it’s a fairly standard tempura restaurant, but its consistent quality, efficient service, and reasonable prices make it an easy recommendation if you’re in the area.
View on GoogleWe arrived at around 14:30 on a Tuesday and they location was lightly packed. J ordered the 3 vegetables + 3 pork + 1 shrimp and an extra shrimp for about 1200円. It was so good! The location is a bit far out, but if your nearby and want tempura, I highly recommend. The tempura was light and crunchy and freshly cooked. A reasonably priced great meal.
View on GoogleAn exceptional tempura place that I randomly went after going to the nearby liquor store. You are greeted with two ticket vending machines with their menu. I suggest ordering their seasonal menu with a side extra of soba noodles for an extra 100 yen. The space inside can easily accommodate around 50 people. Water and green tea is self-service. You are greeted with a tray or two and they will in turn give you the menu items if you ordered a set meal. The best part is when they have finished frying the tempura and they go front of your seat, tongs in hand, and they hand to your tray your mountain of fried food, explaining each one by one. I find that gesture very fulfilling and hospitable. I wowed when the server actually made two trips for my tray of food (they gave me two LARGE shrimp tempura on the second trip). In the rare case that you want to order more, you can ask one of the waiters and you just need to pay to them in cash. I’d be their regular customer if it isn’t located in the literal outskirts. It seems like you have earned every bit that you paid for with their dishes.
