Cozy little tonkatsu joint right next to the Matsubara train station. Everything is fried to order and delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Note that there’s only 2 tables that seat 4 people, so not so great for groups.
View on Google2026/9 Tonkatsu (loin) and hamo fry 1,650 yen Large rice portion +100 yen Arrived around 13:30 with 3 groups waiting outside Entered the shop in about 10 minutes. First, thinking it was a big tonkatsu, it turned out the middle was hamo fry and the small bowl on the left was tonkatsu (lol) It was fried crispy, but many long-established tonkatsu shops don't provide wire racks, so if you pour dressing on the salad, the moisture will make the fried batter soggy. Also, the amount of the large rice portion was good, but it was mushy rice with way too much water, which made me a bit sick. I don't know if the water was just excessive this time, but if the white rice on the next visit has this water level, since this shop cooks soft rice, there will be no repeat visit. This is purely a personal view. Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleThis shop is located right next to the south exit of Kintetsu Kawachi-Matsubara Station. Entered at 11:30 opening on a holiday, and ordered the fillet tonkatsu and hamo fry set. Served in about 10 minutes. It was more voluminous than what I saw in pictures beforehand! Especially the hamo fry was plentiful. Started eating from the hamo fry. The batter was super crispy, light texture and fried food that doesn't upset the stomach. The hamo meat was moist and fluffy, easy to eat and delicious. The fillet katsu also had four thick and solid pieces of meat, filling the stomach. It was also good that despite having little fat, it was moist. The salad was standard shredded cabbage, potato salad, and tomatoes, but plenty of it makes satisfaction high. When sitting down initially there was 1 person, but soon customers came in one after another. A lot of takeout too. The shop has a mid-Showa era atmosphere, but it's properly cleaned, which is also a high point. The bill was 1,650 yen. Considering the contents, satisfied!
View on GoogleA shop I've always been curious about next to the Kawachi-Matsubara station railroad crossing! When I thought of going it happened to be a regular holiday or temporary closure, but past 14:00 on a weekday wondering if it's okay? Fiiiinally went!! (lol) Since they were still doing lunch, I got set B? Fillet karaage, fillet tonkatsu, and shrimp fry set for ¥990. A bargain with this volume!! Though not written, it seems pork gingery? Or sauce-grilled meat is included as standard, honestly I didn't know which one was the fillet karaage w It felt like katsu × 2, but the meat was thick and tender, and the batter was crispy too! The tartar sauce for the shrimp fry was also delicious. They had two types of dressing for cabbage, French and Japanese style, but I mistook one for Worcestershire sauce and poured it w Glad they also placed mustard. When my mom came before, she said the oil was old and gave her heartburn so I was a bit worried, but today wasn't like that and I enjoyed it very much! Personally, I want to come again. Next time I want to try the curry ✨
View on GoogleA tonkatsu shop marked by a red tent. Location near the Kintetsu Minami-Osaka Line, Kawachi-Matsubara station railroad crossing. Food samples at the storefront. Besides food samples, pig figures, maneki-neko, snake figures, etc. were lined up. A delightful Showa era atmosphere. Inside the shop, two-person table seats, four-person table seats, and counter seats in front of the kitchen. Total of twenty-some seats. An aged building, but neatly organized and cleaned. Managed by what seems to be a straightforward master. Seems takeout is also available. Children's songs as BGM. ***** Food ***** Had the katsudon. Comes with pickles. Tonkatsu with crispy batter, freshly fried and hot. Meat thickness is on the thin side... Onions and green onions. Soft-boiled egg with a good balance of sweetness and dashi flavor.
