We were travelling in Osaka and planned a day in Matsubara for Handsman. Went for dinner in this restaurant and was stunned by their hospitality and food quality! Food quality: the food was amazing!!! We each ordered a set with no idea what sushi we were gonna get! The food quality was top level! We even tried whale meat and herring roe (kazunoko) for the very first time! Both are very rare in where I am from! I even get to ordered my favourite -- shirako in tempura form! All the food is delicious and fresh! Highly recommend!! Hospitality: We can speak a little bit Japanese but not fluent. The Itamae and local customers immediately stepped up to help! Once they learned we are not locals and we started chatting! They were all so nice and even told us stories about themselves and the restaurant! We felt very welcomed and happy! Before we left, they even gave us small gifts and a customer even offered us a ride back to the nearby station! It was such a special and unforgettable experience, and we cannot wait to visit again!

Opens around 9, closes at 22. Lunch and delivery are of course available. The interior is relatively full on many days so I think you should make a reservation. 7-8 counter seats. 2 tatami tables (5-6 people × 2) Lots of a la carte dishes, goes well with drinks. Tomato sour has been added. Parking lot for 6 cars. Nearest station is Kawachi-Matsubara Station, 15 minutes south on foot. Everything is delicious, but what I like are kazunoko (crunchy texture is irresistible), eel (domestic of course. Extremely thick), whale (obake is also plump and thick), seared skin salmon (not found elsewhere), crab gratin (crab miso hits strongly and is delicious). The sashimi assortment has many fresh fish of the day, so please ask the master (stern-looking but kind). The master is particular even about how fish is cut so he lets you enjoy it with your eyes too. Credit cards accepted.

Visited around 4 PM on Saturday. I was the only one in the shop, but it had an atmosphere where even a single female can spend time comfortably. Adding toppings I wanted to eat to the set sushi brought the bill to around 3000 yen, so I think it's reasonable. My impression was that the shari was perhaps a bit large? I'd like to visit with my mother next time.
