I went to 'Chinese Restaurant Suzu', a long-loved local Chinese restaurant in Matsubara City. I ordered the 'Sweet and Sour Pork Set Meal (1,400 yen)'. The set meal included sweet and sour pork, fried chicken, small shrimp tempura, salad, pickles, and rice, and it was quite voluminous! It was cooked after ordering and I enjoyed it piping hot! It was super delicious!
View on GoogleYesterday I ate Chinese in Ikuno-ku and thought about going to Tachibanaya in Hirano-ku today, but while thinking about it, I let myself visit Suzu here for the first time. The sound of cooking already sounded delicious. I was satisfied with the taste, price, and volume. I hope the owner keeps the shop running at their own pace for a long time. Amidst inflation, a service lunch for 1100 yen with that volume nowadays is way too cheap. The happosai also firmly contained shrimp and quail eggs.
View on GoogleI had the sweet and sour pork set meal. The regular price is 1380 yen, but it seems on Saturdays they offer it as a service lunch for 980 yen. (Saturday's service lunch lets you pick your favorite set meal) I went just past 11 AM on Saturday. It seemed to be thriving on takeout or delivery, and a sign was quickly put outside saying 'Today we will open from 12'. When I ordered the sweet and sour pork set meal, I heard the owner jokingly say to the staff, 'Sweet and sour pork huh... maybe I should serve mapo.' Maybe he was annoyed at having to make a time-consuming dish during a busy hour. The taste of the set meal is good, but the volume felt a bit lacking. The price is also a bit high. No smoking inside. Cash only. The shop is closed on Thursdays and Sundays.
View on GoogleReopened only for lunch time. Business hours 11:00 to 14:00. Closed on Thursdays as usual. The daily service lunch for 880 yen, where you can choose from 2 types, is weekdays only. Every Saturday you can choose your favorite lunch menu! Sundays and national holidays do not have the service lunch menu. Because members of the band Flumpool often came to eat here, sometimes fans also come and order the same menu as the Flumpool members.
View on GoogleA town Chinese restaurant popular for its service lunch! This time, I ordered the weekday-only service lunch ✨ The main dish for the day was a style where you can choose between yakisoba or happosai. The happosai I chose was loaded with ingredients and full of umami. The starchy sauce with just the right richness and aroma brings out the deliciousness of the ingredients. The fried chicken is juicy, and the small shrimp tempura has a fluffy, light texture. Accompanied by salad, pickles, rice, and soup, it was a satisfying meal ✨
