Iroha Mangetsu's Obsession with [Obsession] [Obsession with 100% Hokkaido Wheat] In the winter of 2014, we stopped using Australian and Canadian wheat for our okonomiyaki and switched to domestic wheat from Tokachi, Hokkaido. To connect consumer safety with the producers' intentions, we overcame numerous obstacles and established direct cultivation contracts. The wheat entering your mouths today is grown by farmers whose faces we know. Please savor the grand nature and safety of Hokkaido. [Obsession with Homemade Freshly-Boiled Noodles] We are also particular about our yakisoba. Our noodles are developed in-house, and moreover, they are boiled only after receiving an order. We never use ready-made or bagged noodles...

Visited in July on a weekend afternoon. Having been recommended by a young person from Kishiwada, I stopped by in front of Kishiwada Castle tower first. Arrived in quite some heat, and although we entered right at the end of lunchtime, the staff kindly explained the menu to us. Ordered the daily special, tonpeiyaki (pork omelet), and tonkotsu salt yakisoba, which had been recommended beforehand. The tonpeiyaki arrived first, and when my wife and I shared it, just as we had heard beforehand, it had a rich flavor with the distinct tastes of the sauce and the dashi in the batter. It wasn't as heavy as it looked, and despite walking in the heat, we polished it right off. After that, the okonomiyaki arrived, featuring fluffy bonito flakes and a batter rich in dashi, which was also extremely delicious and quickly devoured. Finally, the yakisoba arrived; the seasoning was exquisite and kept me reaching for more. If not for visiting Kishiwada Castle afterwards, I think it would have been a moment of bliss paired with beer. Even so, all three dishes were at a satisfying level, almost making it a pity that they don't have a branch in the Kanto region. Given its somewhat distant location from the station, it's hard to call it a casual sightseeing stop, but it's a restaurant I'd recommend to anyone dropping by the neighborhood.

Visited on June 19, 2026 (Reiwa 8). Had the Butatama Modern-yaki Okonomiyaki Lunch A (rice, miso soup, pickles). At this restaurant, the staff cooks the okonomiyaki right at your table seat. Their cooking technique is wonderful. Every staff member makes the okonomiyaki skillfully. Truly professionals. Flavor-wise, there are no complaints. Not only are the okonomiyaki batter and ingredients delicious, but the sweetness of the sauce, mayonnaise, and Japanese mustard that enhance them do a fantastic job. The okonomiyaki goes great as a side dish for rice. A happy point is that it's cheap despite being delicious. Being able to eat a Butatama Modern-yaki Okonomiyaki set meal for just over 1,000 yen is truly appreciated. Good customer service and good taste. Exceptional cost performance. A wonderful restaurant.

The okonomiyaki is grilled right in front of you, while the yakisoba is grilled in the kitchen and brought out to you. It's not exceptionally delicious, nor is it bad. The weekday lunch might be a good deal! Customer service is good.

Heading to [Iroha Mangetsu], a so-called local chain restaurant with three branches in Osaka, for dinner. They open at 5 PM, and despite it being shortly after opening, cars kept pulling up one after another, hinting at a popular spot. It's said to be a 90% repeat-rate okonomiyaki restaurant born from a butcher shop founded in 1926 (Taisho 15). I was tempted by the Mangetsu-yaki, an okonomiyaki using A4-rank Kuroge Wagyu beef, but I also want to eat the meaty yakisoba ❗ The Mangetsu-yaki using A4-rank Kuroge Wagyu beef is 1,793 yen... I felt a slight resistance to spending over 1,500 yen on okonomiyaki. Is it just me who holds the image somewhere in my heart that okonomiyaki can be eaten reasonably? So, I ordered two items: the Butatama okonomiyaki for 880 yen and the meaty yakisoba for 1,045 yen ❗ The okonomiyaki was grilled right in front of us, and the staff member's mayonnaise beam was super skilled ❗ The okonomiyaki itself felt pretty much the same as what I eat in Nagoya. The meaty yakisoba was grilled and brought out, and the pork stir-fried fragrantly with garlic soy sauce and tossed with a special sauce was exceptionally delicious. In Nagoya, I've never been asked, "Would you like mayonnaise on your yakisoba?" Is putting mayonnaise on yakisoba normal in Osaka? Well, as a mayonnaise lover, I'm of course welcome to it. I lived in Osaka for 6 years in the past, but since I had zero interest in food back then, I know nothing lol. This restaurant seems quite particular about their ingredients, noodles, oil, sauce, etc. The yakisoba was delicious ❗ Stomach bursting full ❗ Thank you for the meal ❗
