I stopped by during a motorcycle tour. The caretaker wasn't there, so I could look around without feeling self-conscious. The old thatched-roof house was spectacular! It's very well maintained and looked like you could live in it normally. You can go inside the rooms too.

View on GoogleWhile I was viewing the carved Buddha statues from Takihata Dam, someone told me there was a lovely thatched-roof place nearby, so I visited here You can visit for free
View on GoogleI walked a little uphill from the bus stop along the dam. The weather was nice, and the breeze through the house was pleasant. While I was resting inside, a wild bird came in and flitted around the attic (lol). This is everyday life in the midst of nature... Thank you very much.
View on GoogleVisited on 2023/01/13. Normally it would be too cold to come, but it was as warm as 17 degrees, so it was a trip of rediscovering Kawachinagano. Hydroelectric power, tourism in the Nagano area, and apparently the Nankai and Kintetsu railways came to Kawachinagano back in the Meiji era — lots of new discoveries. We were allowed to go up into the thatched-roof house, so we could relax. Somehow it felt nostalgic.
