From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with incredibly caring service. Our bags were taken care of, and we were provided with an English-speaking host.Every detail and nuance was thoughtfully considered, including explanations on how to use the onsen and what places were nearby.We would definitely come back here again just for the onsen. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend everyone to experience it.One thing to note: the 11-course set dinner felt quite specific for a European guest, so it is good to be prepared for that. However, it was still a very interesting experience.

Stayed in the corner "family" room with wife & 2 young children. Highly recommended for the outstanding service, cultural experience, and peaceful location. It is located a a short walk outside the Amami train station (Nankai Railways), about an hour from central Osaka. My wife mentioned repeatedly that she felt like she was in a Studio Ghibli movie. They serve a traditional Japanese breakfast and a choice of dinner depending on the day. For dinners, we had a 10-course kaiseki meal and then a wagyu beef sukiyaki. The meals were incredible and they try to source as many local ingredients as possible. The shared bath (onsen) is basic but clean and functional after a long day out. Highly recommended for the experience.

Beautiful rooms and impeccable service! The dinner was spectacular and you’re able to explore the zen garden. The cherry blossoms are currently in peak season making this stay so much more magical. The breakfast was also very delicious. The onsen is the perfect temperature. Overall a relaxing, peaceful and most memorable stay!

Nanten-en is our first experience of onsen ryokan inn. We loved it so much, the staffs all very welcomed us and make us feel like at home. The dinner and breakfast superb delicious, worth for the price. May be can improve on kid’s meal options. Will recommend to friends who would like to try onsen inn. It very convenient as just next to the train station.

We ended our trip here staying only one night. The inn is incredibly charming and the gardens are beautiful. We had dinner and breakfast service and both meals were fantastic. The dinner service was an 11 course meal in our room at the low table. The onsen was very relaxing with big windows that look out on to the garden, fully concealed.
