This is not a big place, but everything is so interesting. You can have fun with children, and also learn a lot about stars, the sun, the moon. People are very nice. And it is free at all ~
View on GoogleFriendly staffs, showed me the telescope of the facility
View on GoogleI'd been curious about this place on the way to my destination, so I stopped by on my way back. When you enter, you change into slippers. After that, a staff member explained all sorts of things to me. That day happened to be very cloudy, and if there had been even a small gap, I could have seen the sun and stars through the big telescope, but unfortunately I wasn't able to. It's a small science museum you can get around in no time, but I had fun and learned a lot. Various telescopes made by Zenbei-san are on display. They're worth seeing just to look at.
View on GoogleAdmission is free. There's a telescope for astronomical observation, and you can observe the sun and stars even during the day. The staff's explanations are kind and very easy to understand. I looked at the exhibits on Zenbei's achievements and more, and in the exhibit on Ino Tadataka, who used this telescope for surveying, a map of Japan covering the Kinki region was displayed in the large hall. It's within walking distance of the station. You can make a day trip of it together with the nearby Mizuma Kannon.
View on GoogleIt's not a big facility, but I really enjoyed it. Actual telescopes made by Zenbei-san and other items are on display. Being shown the moon, other planets, and stars through the astronomical telescope was breathtaking, and I was moved to see Saturn's rings for the first time.
