📅Mid-May 2025 Visited to get a manhole card. Kaizuka City has 2 types of manhole cards. The second one is the city flower 【Cosmos】, the symbol mark of the city's 【Kaizuka Cosmos Identity Movement】. I posted the first manhole design, but the reason for the character manhole with people playing sports is that Kaizuka here was a host location for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic torch relay. The museum staff let me hold the torch, took commemorative photos, and gave me all sorts of explanations🙇‍♀️

The "Legend of the Witches of the Orient" (women's volleyball) revived. Nostalgic photos convey their history and achievements to the present day. □ The path of glory. □ Gold medal🥇 at the Olympics. □ The birth of the rolling receive. □ The history of the factory🏭️ (Nichibo) that was here. □ Apparently the Japan national team also held training camps here. The Showa era was truly a wonderful time. ※ This is a building registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property✨.

A 5-minute walk from JR Higashi-Kaizuka Station. Standing there is the former Unitika Kaizuka Factory office, which has endured wind and snow since Showa 10 and now bears the "heavy cross" of being a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan... Oh my goodness! The moment I passed through the gate, that melody started ringing in my heart and wouldn't stop: "Even if it's painful, even if it's sad♫". This isn't just a history exhibition hall. It's where the crystallized blood, sweat, and tears of the Nichibo Kaizuka women's volleyball team, who once shook the world as the "Witches of the Orient," are sealed inside Showa-era modernist architecture: the "holy ground of the rolling receive," so to speak! When I gaze at the exhibits, the earnest eyes of the factory girls who supported the textile industry come back to life along with Coach Daimatsu's roar of "Follow me!", and my vision blurs with tears so much I can't even see the hitting point of the attack... "But the tears come out, because I'm a girl" This solid scratch-tile wall won't allow such soft talk. But don't be surprised. Even though you take such a soul-shaking historical "attack," admission is actually free! It's so kind to your wallet that I instead want to demand, "Who set my heart on fire?" This facility is dedicated to volleyball fans, modern architecture buffs, and everyone battling at the net of life. Be sure to visit clutching a handkerchief. By the time you're done, a moving toss worth more than "one win" will surely go up in your heart too!

I was surprised! This is where Nichibo Kaizuka was born and raised!! I learned that 60 years ago, the girls working at the factory that was here worked hard at volleyball practice, became the strongest team known as the Witches of the Orient, and conquered the world at the Tokyo Olympics. Looking at the exhibits, I felt nostalgic and was moved.
