Ordered the ramen + mapo-don set for 1000 yen. The ramen is a chicken-bone shoyu with the aroma of sesame oil. Classic and delicious. The mapo-don looks authentic with a strong Sichuan pepper aroma, but the heat is toned down, so even people who don't like spicy food can eat it without worry. Next time I want to have the mapo tofu set meal.
View on GoogleI visited while looking for an old-fashioned machi-chuka in Kaizuka. It had a great vibe from the outside, a place that got my hopes up before I even went in. This time we ordered bang bang ji, gyoza, spring rolls, ebi chili, mapo tofu, and fried rice. The bang bang ji had moist steamed chicken that paired well with the sesame sauce—delicious right from the appetizer. The gyoza had a fragrant seared side and was easy to eat with light garlic. The spring rolls had crispy skins, piping hot inside, and were packed with a thick, creamy filling. The ebi chili had a good sweet-spicy balance and wasn't too spicy, so it was easy to eat. The mapo tofu also didn't have too strong a sansho kick—it focused on umami and went well with rice. The fried rice was fluffy and loose, classic deliciousness you won't tire of to the very end. Overall, my impression was "a comforting machi-chuka that makes you want to come back," and I could see why it's been loved by locals for so long.
View on GoogleSweet and sour pork set meal The main sweet and sour pork sits boldly in the center, and it comes with chashu, small shrimp tempura, karaage, an ankake sauce (for tenshinhan?), and egg soup—luxurious❗️ I was completely satisfied.
View on GoogleI had the ramen and mapo-don set; both were delicious and filling. The ramen is a classic chuka soba. The mapo-don is a little sweet, but the heat kicks in afterward. Besides the spots in front of the shop, there are 4 more parking spaces a little further toward Sano. I'd like to come back when I'm in the area.
View on GoogleA machi-chuka where you can eat delicious Chinese food. I'd been curious every time I passed by, so I stopped in. Chinese food usually comes in big portions so you can't try many dishes, but Ishizai Hanten also has half sizes, so I was able to eat a variety. I ate a little too much—it was delicious!
