We usually stay at Rinku town before departing Kansai. My problem with the area is a distinct lack of local breakfast choices. When I found this on google map, I took the 1.2km (18mins) hike from the hotel the next morning. It’s worth the little hike. It’s a local morning place that opens at 4am. People of all walks of life comes thru the door for their breakfast. Hot steaming food never fails in any country. The result is a satisfying array of local selections. The flow might be confusing for a foreigner. Here’s how it works: You wait to be assigned a table if it’s full You start at the beginning of the row at the cashier. You pick up a tray. Then you choose what you want. At the end of the row, you order your rice & miso soup over the counter. Then you pick up your drinks or water. Next, there is a fridge with more options. When you are done, sit down and eat. The staff will come in a while with a machine and total your spending and giving you a receipt. When you are done, return the tra Go to cashier and pay with your receipt Walk out a happy diner. If you visit after reading my review, type “the bear sent me” in your review
View on GoogleSeats are very close to each other. Food feels homely but everything is at the cold side. I see that there’s a microwave, not sure if we are supposed to heat up ourselves. Overall it’s a cheap and good meal but I wish the food were hot and crispy.
View on GoogleI was doing some work at a coworking space down the road and the locals recommended this place for lunch. WOW! I am so glad I went here. They had the most delicious miso salmon and crab croquettes. The miso soup was also very rich and one of my favorites I’ve had thus far in Osaka. My Japanese friends from out of town said places like this are hard to find, and even they were impressed. The staff was super friendly and patient with me as I was practicing my Japanese to order. Highly recommend for authentic, cool vibe and cheap food.
View on GoogleSo happy to have found this place! It was mentioned in a local tourist pamphlet at my hotel, but I noticed that many of the patrons were Japanese, but from out of town. Selection is amazing, and for those unfamiliar with traditional Shokudo, it's cafeteria-style dining where most of the offerings are available to simply pick-up in a self-service format. Ordered and ate my fill, but wanted more! There were SO many choices, and everything looked and tasted fabulous. I was there for breakfast at around 8, and even then it was quite busy. Prices are affordable, and dishes are continuously replenished. The people who run this establishment, like many in Japan, are out to provide as good an experience as they are able, and the warmth in this sentiment is apparent. Heart. I'm not in this area often, but this might just have to change!
View on GoogleDelicious japanese breakfast!! Miso soup (180yen) was cheap and tasty, and their dashitamago (280yen) was one of the best! Thick and really juicy. Both items were served hot.
