A memorial hall attached to the Central Library. Admission is free. These days, there may not be many people, even locally, who know the name Fuji Masaharu, but this multi-talented writer and poet was active with a wide circle of friends including Ito Shizuo and Shiba Ryotaro. Fuji was also deeply versed in theater, and the hall displays a variety of materials such as copies of handwritten manuscripts, including film and theater reviews and diaries. If you get the chance, such as when visiting the library, it might be worth taking a peek once.
View on GoogleI learned of the writer Fuji Masaharu through this facility. Inside, Fuji's house from that time has been recreated, with numerous writing tools, furniture, and doodles that give a sense of the writer's personality. After my visit, I was drawn to his style as a writer, and it became what got me to pick up his books too. Personally, I think he is a more "Ibaraki City"-like writer than Kawabata Yasunari, in the sense of not siding with Kyoto, yet not fully siding with Osaka either.
